NRA Has Six More Dead Americans On Their Hands

Thursday afternoon I was on the west side of Madison doing some grocery shopping when I heard on the car radio the horrible news of yet another slaughter at the hands of one with access to deadly weapons.  Guns.  As I drove and listened to CNN I was also looking at the faces of other drivers wondering if they too were hearing the news, and feeling as sick in their stomach as I was in mine.  And then my mind clicked to what the parents and families of those victims of gun violence would feel when they heard the news.

I was prepared to come home and blog about the bloody outcome of yet another senseless act caused by the NRA, which is responsible for the lack of real gun control legislation in the nation.   But to be honest I was too upset by the whole idea of what took place on the college campus in Illinois to even write about it.  So it is now Friday, and after listening to the folks on radio who live in Chicago, and feel the effects of this even more than any of us here in Madison, I feel better able to post this blog.  Better able that is, because I know full well that my initial reaction is supported by many of my fellow citizens.

As I drove Thursday my first thought after the gut wrenching news hit, was that this is the time for sensible Americans to rise up in an election year and demand that gun control be an issue that is designated as one that we want addressed by the next person to sit in the Oval Office, along with the next Congress.

For far too long we have allowed…..yes ALLOWED….the money grabbing lobbyists of the NRA to dictate…yes DICTATE…how gun laws are to be made in the nation.  As a consequence we have tens of thousands of gun deaths in this nation every year.  The fact that guns are more likely to cause a death, than defend a victim, is glossed over by the nauseating and contemptible manner in which the NRA plays to the lowest common denominator among the electorate.

As a result of the political actions of the NRA who seem content to allow as many guns in as many hands as possible, there are dead college kids at Northern Illinois University.  Due to the gross misinterpretation of the Second Amendment pushed by the NRA there are funeral directors prepared to make six young people look presentable for a funeral.  Families are preparing to look for coffins for their kids due to the selfish gun owners that make up the NRA, and seem to think their supposed right to own handguns supersedes the safety of the majority of their fellow citizens.

Kids are not supposed to die before their parents, much less be murdered with a hand gun.  But thanks to the NRA there are 6 more names to be added to the growing list of folks who were killed by guns in America.

It is time to stand up to the NRA and their lobbyists.  How many more young kids must die before you think it time to end gun violence in America?

How stupid does one have to be to actually believe that crime is caused by the fact that it is legal to own guns in America? Do you actually believe that because we don’t have stricter gun laws, these mentally defective maniacs that choose to slay innocent bystanders are actually more likely to do so??? Making guns illegal doesn’t make them disappear. They will always exist. And someone who intends to break the law by harming another human being is not going to think twice about breaking the law by owning a gun. The NRA has nothing to do with these tragedies. Guns have nothing to do with them either. Why don’t we start blaming arson on companies that manufacture matches and lighters while we’re at it? You Gun-grabbing lefty liberals can’t even begin to imagine what you’re asking for. A country where it’s illegal to own guns? If that’s what you want, then say goodbye to freedom altogether.

On friday some freak in canada managed to stab a fellow passenger 12 times in the chest, killing him, then proceeded to decapitate the victim as others on the bus watched. No gun was involved, nobody could come to this mans aid as he lay dying on the bus floor. How is the gun the sinner. It is society and the way we treat one another that is the real shame here. First guns are outlawed, then knives, then pizza cutters, then stones. In England they now have a serious problem with knife attacks. That same gun you want to outlaw gave you the right to own one. What a boring revolution it would have been if american patriots had lost their right to own a gun, eh mate. People kill, they always have and guns or not they always will. But….as your neighbor if I see you in need…. for whatever reason, indians, aliens, nazi skinheads, or jackbooted overzealous stormtrooper cops,…..I will leave my gun in the closet, and listen to the screams of you and your loved-ones

Personally, I agree. Screw the NRA.

Young people on most of our college campuses are defenseless, and you can blame politicians. The National Rifle Association didn’t do this — a criminal did. Violent criminals know that there will be absolutely no one to stop them. They benefit from the victim-rich zones created to mollify people who are afraid to be personally responsible for their own safety. To blame the world’s largest provider of firearms safety training for this tragedy is intellectually dishonest.

I’m no fan of many of the NRA’s lobbying tactics, and I think we need to do a much better job of enforcing the gun laws already on the books, but I think to throw blame for events like this so squarely on the shoulders of one, multi-faceted organization is wrong-headed. Just like I get my knickers in a twist when more right-leaning folks blame the ACLU for this that and the next thing, it’s gross generalization to lay blame for this on solely on the NRA.

Well, technically, Illinois was #9 out of 50 states on the Brady Campaign’s rankings of how well it likes the state’s gun laws, so maybe it’s the Brady Campaign that has six more dead on its hands.

And it’s not the “money-grabbing lobbyists” of the NRA that make a difference. It’s four million members who vote, making the NRA the second-largest grass roots political lobby after the AARP. I know. I’m one of them.

So sad another outrageous out of line editorial from the far left. To blame a wonderful organization like the NRA for a emotionally disturb sick individual is disgusting. but that is how the far left think, if they believe if they take guns out of the hands of law abiding citizen that the criminal will no longer exist.

Put the blame where it belongs on one sick demented person, not on a group of law abiding Americans, but that is not how leftwing extremist work is it?
