Rush Limbaugh Mimics Osama Bin Laden
I was not surprised to hear that radio ‘entertainer’ Rush Limbaugh wants President Obama to fail as the leader of the country. This is after all the type of broadcasting schlock that conservative radio is known for, and a reason that so many of us listen to NPR, and other radio stations such as WGN. While this comment from Limbaugh is the type of shock type talk intended to inflame rather then enlighten, I still must say I was dismayed to hear it.
Even though I have been extremely critical of President Bush I have never said, nor felt, that I wanted him to fail. In fact, I have stated that in spite of Bush being wrong on the issues America needed a strong leader. I added that the world community also needed a strong and robust leader in the White House. Sadly, Rush Limbaugh seems to value politics more than he does his nation.
I have to believe that smart Americans feel different, even in spite of political differences they may have with President Obama. After all Limbaugh was not talking about the Super Bowl when he hoped for someone to fail. He was talking about our nation, and our way of life. Think about that.
Limbaugh has had bouts of drug addiction and numerous marital failures, and so he has reason for feeling depressed about his life. But to wish the new leader of this country to fail, and by extension every American, is nothing short of pathetic.
Seems the last one who wanted America to fail was Osama Bin Laden. It is strange that Rush Limbaugh would want to mimic the one responsible for 9/11. But believe it or not, that is exactly what Limbaugh did.
Should we expect Rush Limbaugh to try for a pilots license soon?

The President talks about Rush. The Democrats have an online petition to tell his bosses that he not playing nice with the Democrats and the President. That is his job. Congratulations, the Dems will make him a martyr..
Where does Obama compromise with the GOP? With the 46% of us who didn’t vote for him? By your logic, the democrats should have rubber stamped every bush decision. Believing they were in the right, however, they opposed everything. What is the difference in a government system built to be oppositional?
And the GOP shouldn’t get anything. The American people should.
As you know from my past comments on this blog the Fairness Doctrine is needed, and only folks like you make it political. In time I will do a post on the matter. I grew up with it, and worked in broadcasting (radio) while it was still a rule. I then watched it destroyed by those who were frightened by it.
Second, you are not being accurate with the tone you suggest was made by Obama to the GOP. Instead of what you suggest, is was in fact to serve a two-fold purpose. It stated that the red-meat crowd such as Rush are not the ones in the room making the deals, and so the ones with the actual responsibility need to be mindful of that. It also was a notice that even though the elected GOP may think they are in the drivers seat, (and we know they are not anywhere near the front seats in the car) they in fact will only get anything by working in a compromising framework. This will, if the GOP agrees, lead to a more civil sytle of governing.
As a side note why anyone would listen to Rush is a mystery to me.
No, we shouldn’t expect Rush to get his pilots license soon. But, we should not expect our President to effectively blackmail the GOP by saying “Don’t listen to Rush if you want to get things done”. Do you think Bush 43 at any time told the Democrats to “Stop listening to Keith Olbermann or Al Franken if you want to get something done.”?
And please tell me how this is NOT the first step toward censorship of talk show conservatives who oppose the President. Around the corner, bring on that Fairness Doctrine and let’s get that puppy up and running again…
