Benjamin Netanyahu Wrong Recipe For Israel
Lurching to the right is the wrong recipe for Israel, the Middle East, and Washington. Not unexpectedly Benjamin Netanyahu, the leader of the right-of-centre Likud party, has been asked to form Israel’s next government. One can only hope that the governing coalition is weak allowing Netanyahu only limited power for his plans of settlement expansion, and neglecting the rights of Palestinians. We can only hope that the Kadima or Labor Party will hold tough for the positions they advocate, and demand real power in any new government.
The troubling aspect of having Netanyahu form a government is who he will need to get in bed with. And lets face it, in Israel there are a number of truly troublesome elements. How about the crazed utlra-conservative Avigdor Lieberman (yes they have wack-job Lieberman in their politics too) from the Yisrael Beiteinu Party whose aims include crushing Hamas, which is not possible as any watcher of events over the past years understand. In addition, this hateful element wants to ethnically cleanse Israel of the Arab population. In other words if these elements are allowed any real power in a governing coalition there will be problems working with Washington. If the ultra-conservatives have any power the peace process, or any semblance thereof, is dead.
With this type of government forming there is even less reason for Palestinians to have hope that the occupation will end anytime soon of their land. This cycle of endless insanity in the Middle East only heightens tensions, and makes the need for a robust and potential ’knee breaking’ foreign policy towards Israel even more of a necessity from Washington.

It is sad that so many civilians were massacred in Gaza. What most fail to realize is that they were massacred by their own leaders for political gain. Hamas has clearly stated that they are more than happy to sacrifice civilian lives “don’t worry about the casualties” “we love death more than they love life” (if you haven’t seen these Hamas quotes, you haven’t really been paying attention)- the end justifies the means. So if they hold babies up in front of Israeli guns, who is doing the massacre?
This proves that Shimon Peres is not a man of peace. By choosing Netanyahu he knew what he was doing. This will mean more land grabbing (even if it illegal), expansion of settlements in West Bank (even if those settlements are illegal). Jews don’t seem to care. But now America is getting weaker by the day and will not be in position to protect the Zionists much longer. I believe that another superpower will fix that situation by pushing the Jews by force back into their land that is Israel only, not Israel-West Bank.
I guess this means more civilians massacred in the Warsaw Ghetto; oops, I mean in the Gaza Strip!!
You are aware of the talks, that by many accounts were close to a resolution, on the Golan Heights with Syria, prior to the last outburst of violence from Israel?
We might just ask when the hell Israel stops occupying some one else’s land. Because in time…and not all that long… the Jews will be a minority in their own country.
Hmmm…….
Let me see! Lets give more ” Land for Peace”..How about the Golan Heights? Then we wait and see how the shelling and rockets damage Israel. Does the Left in Israel how no common sense out of their desire to please the world. “If not for myself, they who am I for?”
