Just Released Historic Photos Of The Night Martin Luther King, Jr. Was Shot

April 22, 2009

There is still a shocking numbness to these stark black and white photos of the night Martin Luther King, Jr. was so senselessly murdered in Memphis.   Even though we are well aware of the night it happened, there is still a thud in the heart when you see these pictures.

During the past months I think many of us have wondered what the look on King’s face would have been on the day Barack Obama was sworn into office, and a page turned in our history books.  When we look back on what happened in Memphis we are all aware again of how far we have come.  Thankfully.

Life photographer Henry Groskinsky took the pictures and adds audio commentary.
