CNN Giving Some Distance From Lou Dobbs

July 23, 2009

Lou Dobbs is so…..(fill in the blank.)  I prefer nativist, immigrant obsessed angry white male.

CNN is separating itself from the radio commentary of one of its lead hosts, Lou Dobbs.

The LATimes’ James Rainey calls outDobbs for a recent thread that’s been coming up on his radio show, and that Dobbs has not, in Rainey’s view, sufficiently shot it down: the validity of Barack Obama‘s birthplace. One caller to Dobbs’ radio show said Obama would soon be exposed as having been born in Kenya. “Certainly your view can’t be discounted,” replied Dobbs.

Rainey points out, “cooler heads at CNN put some distance between themselves and their once star host, with fill-in Kitty Pilgrimusing a segment of ‘Lou Dobbs Tonight’ on Friday to provide a substantially more skeptical look at the Obama-made-in-Africa claims. Pilgrim introduced the topic of Obama’s alleged foreign birth as she sat in for Dobbs that night, calling it ‘the discredited rumor that won’t go away.’”

CNN has no involvement in Dobbs’ radio show. A spokesperson tells TVNewser, “On CNN, Lou is an independent reporter who covers stories that people are talking about, and often showcases issues that aren’t being covered by the mainstream media.”

Yesterday on the radio, Dobbs kept up the drumbeat, but stated three times that he believes Pres. Obama is a U.S. citizen. “I think the president of the United States is a citizen,” Dobbs said, adding “But what I don’t understand is why he hasn’t just produced [his birth certificate] to get this noise out of the way.”

Interestingly, Dobbs’ CNN show is preempted tonight as the network plans to air a pre-”Black in America 2″ program live from Times Square at 7pmET.

Asked whether Dobbs’ preemption has anything to do with his radio comments, the CNN spokesperson tells TVNewser, “Our special programming for Black in America 2 has been set for weeks now.”

The GOP need help; I am not sure if they really have a clue. I for one, may become an independent or libertarian. If we can start a Conservative Party, that would be my choice. I know the only party that can bring this nation back to a Constitutional Republic is not what exists in congress today; they have all sold out for their congressional pensions and retirement perks; send them all home and don’t let them come back. Send in a new team with some guts.

Do you feel like the GOP is a fringe party? If not, why not?

After reading your comment I think much of my argument about the future of the GOP is correct. Unless it comes back to the land of moderates and sanity, will mean that it is to drift with the type of folks who think that there is not enough conspiracies to ponder. There are always fringes to be sure, but do you think that there are enough fringes to constitute a winning majority?

    Just wondering.

CNN has along way to go to be fair and balanced; none of the media is that today. Fox probably is closest, but still needs help.

I read an article attributed to John King, CNN recently; it stated with regard to Obama’s long form birth certificate; that CNN had investigated the issue, had contacted the Officals in the State of Hawaii and verified that Obama would not be able to obtain a long form birth certificate because when the State of Hawaii went to electronic records they distroyed all of the original birth certificates.

Fast forward to today, I was personally in contact with the State of Hawaii today, I have email varification, the certified long form birth certificate id still available, and usually can be picked up over the counter the same day requested, with proper identification. So what can we learn from this? CNN has a bias for whom?

Obama does not need to dignify this insanity by addressing it.

By not addressing it, he keeps his political opponents focused on silliness, he divides them, and makes them the subject of ridicule. It makes their heads explode.

    It’s a win-win.

Did the GOP pay this much attention to the GWB military record? Where can we see the original documents, which were removed from the TANG archives while Bush was governor.

    Nothing to see there.

I will make a charge that you are a Communist.

    Now we are even.

It is your duty to disprove a negative.

    Have fun.

It is my opinion that the vast majority of the citizens of the United States of American have no idea what the Constitution is nor understand it is the basis for our Republic; that we are a nation of laws and not a democracy, We the People are governed therefrom and not by a majority of the wishes in a democracy.

That said the issue with Obama is he, and his handlers, usurped the constitution by avoiding one of the basics requirements to be president as setforth in Article II of the Constitution of the United States of America. That Article requires, amongst other things that he be a “Natural Born Citizen of the United States; being a “natural born citizen” of the United States of America is a procreation act of being born of two, not one, United States citizen on United States soil; thereby becoming a “Natural/Native Born Citizen”, the other requiements is residents and age. The founding fathers made that very clear in the framing of the constitution, how “Natural Born Citizen” status occurred and did not leave that to legislature to determine that qualification. The Legislatures can determine how alien people can apply and become United States citizens, but cannot by constitutional law determine how one becomes a “Natural/Native Born Citizen”.

It is unfortuneate that the general public believes, because they elected Obama, that Obama is president, gets a pass, and nothing can change that; this is not true, and unfortuneately the Obama supporters will need to deal with that fact soon.

There is so much complicity in this matter that to go further would just make people more unhappy.

Let’s just say this, two pending cases currently before the courts, one in New Jeresy and the other in California will come before a federal judge; the one in New Jersey on August 3, 2009 and the California case will be scheduled for trial shortly, since Obama defaulted in that case and the judge ordered Obama served through the US Attorneys present at that hearing; basically giving an extention to answer, without motions to dismiss, and as he said that the case will be heard on the merits.

Let’s see the learned constituional scholars response hereto.

No, I do not get that feeling at all from CNN.

I see them doing this as akin to the Pope trying to undo the damage when a priest goes off the reservation, so to speak. CNN has too much of a reputation to uphold to allow such activity (such as this from Dobbs) to go unquestioned.

I can’t say I am Lou Dobbs’ number 1 fan, but is CNN implying that Dobbs’ is some sort of bigot because he is questioning where President Obama was born and Obama is African-American and that is why they are “distancing themselves” from him?
