Prosecutor Named To Investigate CIA Interrogations
It is time. and this is correct decision.
The rule of law and the decency by which we act as a nation both domestically and internationally is the best way to promote our cause, and steer other nations to act accordingly. My father says at the end of the day we only have our good name to fall back on. The same can be said of nations. As such I am pleased with this decision today by Eric Holder.
Attorney General Eric Holder has asked federal prosecutor John Durham to examine whether CIA interrogations of suspected terrorists were illegal, the Justice Department said Monday.
Durham has been investigating the destruction of CIA interrogation tapes since January 2008. He was initially appointed to do so by then-Attorney General Michael Mukasey.
Holder said he reached his decision to expand Durham’s mandate after examining reports from the Justice Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility and a classified version of the 2004 CIA inspector general’s report on questionable interrogation techniques, among other documents.
“As a result of my analysis of all of this material, I have concluded that the information known to me warrants opening a preliminary review into whether federal laws were violated in connection with the interrogation of specific detainees at overseas locations,” Holder said in a written statement.
Meanwhile, President Obama has approved the establishment of a special unit of terrorist interrogators based out of the FBI, senior administration officials said Monday.
The move comes in the wake of criticism of questionable CIA interrogation techniques, such as waterboarding and the transfer of detainees to countries where torture is common.

I agree with holder and obama, low case. We should investigate all the people that have been taking care and protecting this country for sooooo long, because of their “terrible job”. I think that the best choice is to send all these terrorist to Lybia, so they can thrive and procreate; redundancy?. I think this country has to be more humanitarian with the all the people that are agaisnt of our terrible system.
The fact that these type of procedures used by the CIA only increases the hatred for the United States, and creates new terrorists should concern you based on your comments.
We as a nation, are known by our actions. That counts for a lot.
I happen to be old-fashioned enough to think that the civics taught in my early years still applies.
Wish all the conservatives could be grounded in those same simple concepts.
Does Holder have ANYthing better to do? Ask yourself if you would’ve cared about these interrogation techniques on 9-12-01? All these reports have been available since 2004. What is the sudden interest? More diversionary tactics away from HR 3200=crap healthcare for all! Stop wasting our $ worrying about the feelings and self esteem of terrorists and criminals and just get our troops back home ASAP. Holder so bent on prosecuting CIA for trying to protect the USA, but doesn’t have the time to prosecute blatant voter intimidators! Chalk up another incident of the Obama administration trying to polarize the country. Unbelievable! What a joke.
