Jimmy Carter Is Right: Racism Reason For Attacks On Obama
I totally agree with President Jimmy Carter. I applaud his political metal in standing and repeating the truth. Too many wish to back off or low-key the issue of racism. I say no to that wimpish way of dealing with the matter. This issue has to be confronted head on. As a nation we have made great strides in racial relations. But there is more work to be done. By pretending that racism is not at the core of those who protest in the most repugnant of ways against Obama is just not being honest about the situation.
All along I have known these baseless and totally illogical attacks on President Obama was nothing more than deep-seated and unresolved racism. There is nothing to be gained by denying it. Lets wake up and talk like adults about how to deal with it.
Yesterday there was this.

What do you call people that make comments about Africans, monkeys, and carry pictures of the president made to look like Hitler or the joker? I work and live in a republican district. I shudder at the discusting RACIST comments that I have heard before the election and after. I have received E-mails that made me want to vomit showing Obama hanging from a tree with the KKK cheering. This came before Obama was even elected. No one is sugesting that everyone must agree with all of his policies. But,to think that all of the disrespect this man has indured has nothing to do with racism,is kidding themselves. If it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, looks like a duck, chances are it’s a ……………..well, you know. Or do you?
I give up. Repugnancy is not evidence of racism but you can think that if you like. Baseless attacks are not evidence of racism and neither are illogical attacks. Just because somebody is criticized or treated differently does not mean that racism is the core reason for it. To be racist you need evidence of acts (or expressions) related to a human race. But I will not convince you of this so I am ending my part of this discussion.
Baloney.
Lets cut the shit here.
Those who accuse our president as being un-American, a terrorist, a Muslim, an Arab, or something less than a person are not attacking his policies, they are attacking something else, and we have a name for that behavior – racism.
You know better than what you write!
I never said that if you disagree with Obama that you are a racist. To think and comment that way makes you look the fool.
Read my post again.

Intelligent discourse from those with differing ideas from the Obama White HOuse was never mentioned. I was talking about in my post the most alarming and dangerous types that look like they might come unhinged in a gentle breeze. You must follow the news somewhat and know the type of conservatives I am discussing.
You know better than to try and confuse what I wrote, with what you wanted to think I wrote.
Deke,
You are myopic on this and you insult every one who disagrees with the Obama Adminstration. Trotting out Jimmy Carter as a defense for your comment on racism is like quoting Glenn Beck as a defense for declaring Obama a socialist. Both are inconceivable to me.
I like Jimmy Carter and I think he is well-intentioned on Mideast peace process but his comments here are deplorable generalizations and not befitting his intelligence.
47 Million Americans are not racist because they disagree with Obama policy. Show me some racial epithets, show me some allegations and references to genetic deficiencies and tribal origins, that are promulgated by the mouthpieces of the Republican Party. Show me some Republicans who refuse to meet with Obama because of his race. They do not exist.
Calling Obama ‘Hitler’ is not racist and calling him a liar is not racist either.
When you say that Republicans are racist towards Obama you are acting like a parent who says the teachers are just picking on your kid in school for no good reason. You are enabling failure by giving Obama followers an excuse for future poor performance.
For all the complaining that it’s not fair to generalize all conservatives are racists because of the actions of a few (well, not so few really), I have seen not word one from the Limbaughs, Becks and the Malkins (etc.) condemning the actions of these bigots.
Instead, what one hears are whines that any reference to this behavior is an attempt to shut conservative speech down.
Cry me a river people … I’ve no sympathy for you.
