Republican Congressman Talks About Shooting Democrats

The vile remarks that would get most of us locked up, or at least have the FBI involved in an investigation, continues with another Republican talking openly about shooting political opponents.  This time it is a conservative Congressman who is looking to shoot Democrats.  What these types have with guns and shooting people is lost on those of us with more cerebral matter than crap between our ears.  Nonetheless this type of story below is just one more reason we have to watch the conservatives constantly.  Never know when one of them may blow.  Clearly being a conservative is not the most stable of conditions.

Another dopey gun reference from a Republican using shooting Democrats as a metaphor, courtesy POLITICO’s Anne Shroeder Mullins, who sat down with Republican Mississippi Rep. Gregg Harper.

Anne: What in the world does the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus do?

Harper: We hunt liberal, tree-hugging Democrats, although it does seem like a waste of good ammunition.

Hilarious. Especially in a state with a long, ugly history of political assassinations — Medgar Evers, Chaney, Schwerner and Goodman.

Joking about shooting your political opponents is on the rise: Earlier this month a potential GOP opponent of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) squeezed off a few rounds at a paper target with the initials ”CWS” scrawled on it. He apologized, saying it was inappropriate.

Harper, on the other hand, is unrepentant:

Harper spokesman Adam Buckalew told me to lighten up. “He wrote it himself,” Buckalew said. “It’s supposed to be fun…It’s having a good time.”
