Would Mitt Romney Pose In Boxers For Outdoors Magazine?

UPDATE

Zach at Blogging Blue alerted me that the picture of Sarah Palin was taken for a running magazine, and not just for Newsweek.  Regardless of the magazine it was shot for I think it not in dispute that Palin uses her sex appeal on the one hand, and claims sexism was part of the 2008 campaign on the other hand.

###

Sarah Palin posed for a 1940’s style pin-up type picture for the current cover of Newsweek.  She struck a pose that would have made many a foot-locker at boot camp for horny GI’s getting ready to fight Hitler decades ago.  The fact that she has claimed sexism in the past over the way the media has covered her 2008 campaign became even more laughable when she thought it best to show some leg to make an impact with fat old men in Green Bay and Omaha.  One can only surmise, given the path she is taking, that a calculated wardrobe malfunction will not be far away.  The only question seems to be will it be a left nipple or right one that will get photographed.

Think about the picture below.  Would Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison have done the same?  How about Condi Rice?  In both cases they have abilities to write for such publications, and need not just sell a sexy look.  Kay is in a Senate race, and Condi has been talked about for elective office.  So in that sense they are politicians like Palin.  Expect they each have  a brain filled with educated ideas.  When one only has legs and no real intelligence, well, better make use of them before the national interest wanes.  (Or she gets older and they become Steinways.)

Can you see Mitt Romney posing in boxers and a smirk for Outdoors Magazine in an attempt to flirt with the hard-up GOP women.  (OK,  I know he wears his magic underwear, but you get my point.)   At the same time Sarah Palin is trying to press her bona fides during her massive media swing concerning  conservative values, brain power, and skills for national leadership, she is posing as a tawdry cheap date for lonely men in a national magazine.  Who advises her?

Is it any wonder then that the title cover asks the question,  “How Do You Solve A Problem Like Sarah?”  As the article says she is bad news for the GOP……..  What they left off the cover was that she is a national joke for the rest of us.

Have you read the latest about Palin calling Newsweek “sexist’!! Yes, it is oh-so “sexist” and “degrading” to use a picture that she posed for a whole 6 months ago. My 7-year-old makes fewer excuses, whines less, and makes better logic while doing both than this woman. Palin is trying to play the feminist card, but she falls flat. She can cry sexism all she wants regarding a picture of her-which she allowed to be taken-but on the issues that really matter to women, like reproductive choice, equal pay, childcare issues and equality under the law (ERA), her disapproval of these issues prove her to be a charlatan. And, personally, I find her accusations to be phony and self-serving-coming from a former beauty queen.

I recall the MSM, left talkingheads slobbering, fainting, and fawning over the Obama beef-shot in the Washingtonian… HMMMM..

Face it you cannot stand the fact that you can no longer depict the right, conservatives, Republicans as a bunch old, fat, rich, cigar chompin’ white guys.

My money is still on Michelle Bachmann..

Actually, Palin didn’t pose for the cover of Newsweek; they used a photo of her from Runner’s World magazine, hence her attire in running clothes.

Thanks Zach for pointing that out to me. Regardless of where it was shot, or for which magazine, I still think the underlying theme for my post has merit. She uses her sex appeal on the one hand, and then has the gull to talk about sexism from the 2008 campaign on the other hand.

So, the choice here was to use a picture which would present Palin in a controversial way. Should the NYTimes use a picture of Hillary or Michelle Obama regarding a story about their political views? No. But because it is Palin, and because you want it to be true, the unflattering picture gets used. Is there any other example of the editors of Newsweek making a similar choice?

      One more note Zach.

I updated the post with your comment info, and thank you for the heads-up. Love your blog, and what you do with it.

I love Sarah Palin. She stands for the average American person. Not the typical politician and she’s beautiful. I think she can do more than what the public thinks. Speeches are not how you should judge a public servant. After all, that’s not what they should be good at. Right? If they are good speakers, that’s all they can do. The American people need someone that is do’er. That’s Sarah Palin.

The US is really failing big time. Huge debt that will ruin the standard of living for many years. China owns the USA.
