Just How Bad Does Representative Jeff Wood Need Per Diem?
December 16, 2009
(No one would have blamed Representative Wood for missing this vote on the Wisconsin Assembly floor.)
A state lawmaker facing driving-under-the-influence charges has returned to Madison to vote on, of all things, a drunken driving bill.
Rep. Jeff Wood has been arrested three times in the last year for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The Assembly returned to the floor Wednesday to vote on a bill that would toughen Wisconsin’s drunken driving laws. Wood, a Chippewa Falls independent, quickly left the chamber as lawmakers adjourned for meetings as reporters trailed him. Asked if he had any comment, he said, without turning around, “no.”
