Citizens For Responsible Government Embarrassed By Hyper-Partisan Politics

June 20, 2010

When I was a kid there a national group intent on cleaning up smut on TV.  They ran full-page advertisements to promote their cause.  Many of their members sat around watching all sorts of dreadful television hoping to catch foul language or a kiss that lingered too long.  That is what came to mind this week as I followed the rather lame, and clearly hyper-partisan spin that Citizens for Responsible Government (CRG) unleashed on a fellow Wisconsin blogger.  Chris Liebenthal, a Milwaukee County employee, was accused of blogging on county time.  One can see the CRG members lurking their days away trying to find something they could hang their hats on.  In the end all they have done is show that nothing comes from chasing ones’ own tail.  Just like the ‘clean up TV’ crowd, CRG should have found a more useful way to spend their time.

The long tangled story is worth knowing about, and JillSixPack has done a great job providing background and insight.  I do offer one of her paragraphs as I too want to stop the allegations that have been created about Liebenthal.  I encourage folks to read the full linked story.

This same champion of free speech has now filed charges with the County District Attorney claiming that County employee Chris Liebenthal must be blogging on County time.  Seymer’s evidence?  A bunch of blog posts on dates that turned out to be furlough days or Liebenthal’s scheduled vacation days.  It was pointed out by none other than Owen Robinson, the warden of Wisconsin’s asylum for the nuttiest of right-wingnuts, Boots and Sabers, that blog time stamps are meaningless anyway. But Robinson still thinks this is sufficient evidence to warrant an official investigation, costing the County time and money as Liebenthal’s work computer is seized and examined.

Is it just blogging on county time or are county resources also included?

Well Christ on a Crutch! I seem to have wasted a fair amount of comments on a couple of blogs trying to make that point me-self. But I guess poor Old Shamus O’Snap isn’t in your “approved Comfort zone”
    *sigh*
WTF next time Poor Shamus knows something that might helpPoor Shamus is keeping his piehole shut. yup. Owen Robinson, meh. The guy is de-volving and coasting on his rep, the spark is gone. The analysis mundane and trite.
