Waunafest Parade Wows Young And Old Under Sunny Skies

July 25, 2010

Waunafest started out on the slow side this year due to storms putting a wet ending to the events on Thursday.  But by the time of the parade on Sunday morning the skies were blue, a gentle breeze wafted over the city, and plenty of sunshine was to be found for the throngs who sat on street curbs and neighbors’  lawns.  This was not just another parade, but instead a truly high energy two-hour production that left young and old alike smiling and remarking how fun it all was.   The children were utterly delighted with the  music and motion of the parade, and of course were eager to collect the candy that was tossed all around them.  There was no doubt that the planners of the parade, and all the participants put time and effort into what turned out to be a spectacular day.  Hats off to Waunakee!  Often the folks behind the scenes for such events are not aware of the appreciation that we feel for their efforts.  That is not case here.  Many thanks to all those who made Waunafest a success.

Kids and parades were made for each other.  There was one constant scene today that was played out over and over…..and over.  More candy, please.(Below)
