Historic Wooden Circle To Return To Grand Ole Opry Stage
Grand Ole Opry members Brad Paisley and Country icon ‘Little’ Jimmy Dickens will participate in a press conference Wednesday (8/25) at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. The conference will be held as the historic circle of wood from the center of the stage will be returned to its spot after the being refurbished since the flood in May. The Opry House has been closed for repairs since that time.
The circle of oak was moved from the Opry’s original home at the Ryman Auditorium into the Grand Ole Opry House in 1974. It was covered by 47 inches of water during the flood and was the only part of the stage that was saved.
You can see a portion of the famed circle below as Garth Brooks, Bill Anderson, Porter Wagoner, and “Little” Jimmy Dickens sing and play at the Opry.

I STOOD ON THE OLD SIGHT AS I WAS ON A TOUR OF THE OLD OPRY THE GROUP PASSED OFF THE STAGE BUT I STAYED MY WIFE SAID COME ON I SAID JUST A MIN I NEED TO DO SOMETHING AND I SANG (YOUR CHEATING HEART) I CAN NOW SAY I SANG ON THE STAGE AT THE GRAND OLD OPRY. THE PART WHERE I STOOD WAS CUT OUT AND NOW IS AT THE NEW OPRY. I AM 75 YEARS OLD AND NOT TO MANY FOLKS CAN MAKE THE CLAIM I CAN MAKE.
I’m glad for The Opry. Symbolic steps like this help Nashville begin to feel whole again.
A little circle of wood does not a church make… if it isn’t the Ryman itself, it is just fake G. O. O.! The purists know…
