Democrats Should Vote For Mark Neumann And Dave Westlake In Republican Primary
In many places around Wisconsin there is not a real competitive race on the Democratic side to deal with come Primary Day on September 14th. As such there has been chatter among friends, folks at the Farmers’ Market, and others about the need for Democrats to trim the sails of a couple of Republicans in the upcoming primary. The fact is that voting in the Republican primary may prove very beneficial to Democrats in Wisconsin come November.
Let us be clear about something.
There is no need to worry about who the Democratic Lt. Governor will be if Democrats can not win the top state job.
Since Wisconsin allows for anyone to vote in either party primary I strongly suggest Democrats vote for Mark Neumann and Dave Westlake. Both candidates can be taken out by the Democratic nominees come the November election.
I think Mark Neumann has run a smart campaign against Scott Walker, and is not far away from the goal post in the primary. With some additional help from Democrats, Walker can be stopped. While Walker has run a largely negative campaign, Neumann has run a more serene one. I think that cleaner approach is resonating across the state among the GOP faithful.
Having said that however, Neumann is no match for Democratic nominee Tom Barrett. Not only is Neuamann not in touch with the middle section of voters in the state, but Barrett is a sharper campaigner and will do better in the debates.
Ron Johnson is just so appalling that anytime a voter can cast a ballot against him it should not be wasted. If there is anyone that would pull Wisconsin and the nation backwards, it is Johnson. From immigration to gay marriage Johnson holds such horrible notions that it is imperative we do all we can to make sure he is not elected.
Those Democrats who choose to vote in the Republican Primary need to be reminded that if they want their ballot to be counted, they can’t cross party lines. Only one party can be selected for your votes in the primary.

Thanks for showing all your readers that if they want to keep there liberties they should vote for Walker. If you like the idea of driving businesses out of the state go a head and support Barrett.
It’s the Liberal way. Win anyway you can. Pass the health care even though no one wants it. Cap and trade …It won’t stop.
I say go ahead and vote for Westlake and watch him blow Feingold out of the race.
Sir, I am appalled by your suggestion. Politics is not a game. This has real consequences that affect real people. Pick candidates that you believe in, support them, and vote for them. Do NOT play these childish games like you suggest. It will come back to haunt you.
Clearly your post tells me that it’s time for the open primaries in Wisconsin to come to an end. That sort of sabotage “win at any cost” voting isn’t good fertilizer for creating honest politics.
I think you have it backwards; Neumann ran nothing but a negative campaign against Walker earlier this year. He claims not to be a career politician and yet the only reason he is not is because he lost to Feingold. Neumann is a hypocrite. Since you lefties are so in love with him, all the more reason for conservatives not to vote for him.
Andrew,
Thanks for commenting.
I lived and worked in Sturgeon Bay for 4 years, 1982-through the end of 1986 at WDOR Radio. Loved my time in Door County. I also was the Chairperson of the Door County Democrats while in the county. When I was there I was a real minority! Over the years I am glad to see that there is more of a Democratic family emerging in the county and standing up and being counted.
Check out my WDOR category and read more, if you wish, about my radio days.
Good suggestion Deke. I’m horrified at the thought of Ron Johnson beating out my beloved Russ Feingold. I see his damn signs all over my hometown of Sturgeon Bay. They are well made signs though, with the O in the middle of Ron being in the shape of Wisconsin and the appealing shape of green throughout, but I still have a strong desire to destroy them as I’m venturing around town.
IMHO I think Nuemann might be tougher coming from anywhere but Milwaukee. Barrett’s actually has a lot more to point to as results such as the reduction in crime than Walker does with the appalling destruction of the Milwaukee County infrastructure.
This is one of the main reasons why tax-$$$ should not be used to finance primary races for political parties.
