Pope Benedict Says Condoms OK…..Sometimes

Pope Benedict XVI has said that condom use can be justified in some cases to help stop the spread of AIDS, the first Vatican exception to a long-held policy condemning condom use. The pope made the statement in a series of interviews with a German journalist, part of an extraordinary effort to address some of the harshest criticisms of his turbulent papacy.
The pope made clear that he considered the use of condoms a last resort and not a way to prevent conception. The example he gave of when they could be used was in the case of male prostitutes.
That should make some in the Vatican more relaxed this weekend.

My how times have changed.
Fr John’s seeing this condom use as not aggravating an already gravely immoral situation – therefore merely a prevention of further disorder ; bearing no laudible credit whatsoever…a neutralising of aggravation is not direct moral agency – like kicking a cat into the road but waiting till the bus passes rather than kicking it under it.
How does the Pope know that male prostitutes don’t use condoms?! Experience? Shouldn’t female prostitutes use them also or has the church changed its stance on the fondness it has for the children of whores?
Yeah, I’m sure prostitutes are worrying about what the Pope has to say.
The homophobia in the Vatican statement! Somehow I don’t expect that he believed male prostitutes have sex with women, eh? So again it’s those intrinsically disordered hom-o-sexuals who are enough of a threat to just maybe modify the condom ban. How about saying that straight men who frequent female prostitutes should use a condom as well?
