This is what I would suggest. 20-plus hours of video ideas below.
But first let me applaud your desire to instill a sense of history in your child. A gift, I might add, that he will one day come to much appreciate.
While there are plenty of old programs one can buy on E-Bay, Amazon, etc. I suggest another route that will allow for you to see exactly see what the content is, and then place it on a DVD in the fashion you desire.
And it is easy.
First, in case you do not have Real Player on your computer down load a free version of it. Safe and easy to use.
When you click on a video, and once Real Player is installed, you will notice a little ‘blurb’ over the upper right hand “download this video”. Click it…..and wait for a few seconds……Real Player will automaticalty make a copy and store it in your Real Player library.
Do this for as many of the videos as you desire.
THEN….
On your computer you may already have a program to burn a DVD. If not, and need help I can try to offer some advice. Better yet, Best Buy is the place where the real brains on this stuff can be found. But feel free to ask me all the same.
With the DVD program you can then make a DVD of these videos and save them for the time you want to bring this history to his attention.
You can also make tons of other videos.
I was, for instance looking for old footage of Whittaker Chambers, and found nothing.
You will note that often people are not the best at promoting their videos on You Tube as the labeling and titles are sometimes weak. So using a variety of search terms is always best with You Tube.
As always, please let me know if I can of further assistance.
I am always eager to help with stuff I know about. That (some would say) is a limited list…..but I will always try.
Deke: I apologize, this has nothing to do with this post. Yesterday, I was telling my son about a program A&E aired on November 22, 1988, the 25th anniversary of the JFK Assassination, called I think “As it Happened”. The show started with the soap opera NBC was airing at 12:30 on 11/22/1963 and then cut right in with Chet Huntley saying the President had been shot. Any idea where I could find it? I am compiling stuff to show my son when he is older about historic events.
Thanks for the links, I made them favorites and am going through the videos.
Thanks again for the help.
