The Ron Johnson-Michele Bachmann Connection

December 18, 2010

When I first heard this week that there was a Ron Johnson-Michele Bachmann connection I said  “please, let there be no porn music involved.”

Ron Johnson, one of those millionaire Republicans about to be sworn in as U.S. Senator, chose Mary Vought to be his communications director.   The only thing Vought can claim prior to working for the not overly bright Johnson is making ‘controversy’ Michele Bachmann’s middle name.  Now that is a resume-builder!  Just enough of a resume builder for Johnson it seems…..which leads me back to his lack of intelligence.

I hope Wisconsin is proud of what they did in November.

There are just too many stupid people in this state.

To “hope” that your elected representatives “conduct will be an embarrassment” to achieve some sort of political precedent, is one one of the more ridiculous, self-serving statements that I have encountered.
The attack on Ron Johnson’s intelligence also appears to be the result of a ‘spoil-sport attitude’ on behalf of partisanship. He was certainly bright enough to be elected and to have become one of those “evil millionaires” that the Democrats fear so much. Most assuredly he will be more of an asset to the State of Wisconsin than Feingold!

I can give you two that I know personally, and worked with while in the Wisconsin State Assembly. One from each side.

Democratic Representative Stan Gruzynski and Republican Terry Musser.

In fact, Musser made my blog back in March 2007. Stan made the blog too but I can not find his post fast enough for this comment.

    Thanks for your reply.

Can you give me one example of a citizen legislator that has policy bona fides?

    Dale,

Great questions….and fair ones I might add.

    Second one first.

I like intelligence. So when it comes to the oppositon they must first wow me with insight and perspective. For instance I admire Dick Lugar, and as a Democrat gave money to his presidential campaign. I watched as a teenager William F. Buckley, Jr. on Firing Line and loved his use of language. I tell you if every conservative could talk like Bill did it would be a joy to debate ideas. Sen. Graham and Hatch are two very bright guys who I respect….differ with many times…..but respect.

On the state level…not sure where you live…but in Wisconsin Mike Ellis gets respect from me. Differ with him….but respect him.

The list could go on and on in this way.

Your first question…..I must state frankly that I can never really accept candidates that are inferior in ability, or the voter that is not able to cast a ballot on the issues and instead votes for ads and pablum.

Johnson campaigned by and large with huge TV ads, and has no policy bona fides. Voters too shallow to care are as bad as the candidate.

EX-Bachmann communications director, so there is hope.

Two questions for you: 1. When do you begin to support the person elected by the majority of Wisconsin voters? and 2. What would it take for you to recognize good performance in the opposition?

I am still shaking my head over the results of the recent election in this state. My hope is that his conduct in office becomes so embarrassing that deep voter remorse sets in and he becomes a one-termer.
