Poll: To Know Sarah Palin Is To Dislike Her
These poll numbers are not good…..for a presidential candidate….(start laugh track)
Is the love affair between Sarah Palin and Alaska over?
The former governor of the “Last Frontier” and potential 2012 presidential candidate is pretty unpopular in the state that serves as a backdrop for her TLC reality show, according to a recent survey from Public Policy Polling.
In the poll, Alaskans gave an overwhelmingly cold response to Palin, with 58 percent giving her an unfavorable rating and 33 percent giving her a thumbs up. The only state among the 10 surveyed that showed less love for the “mama grizzly” was Massachusetts.
The pollsters also offered this interesting point to consider:
It’s not a coincidence that the 35% of the vote Joe Miller appears to have received in the Alaska Senate race is almost identical to the 33% who have a favorable opinion of Palin. Miller allowed himself to practically become a surrogate for Palin and while that was good for letting him pull off a primary victory by the slimmest of margins it was not so good for his prospects in the general election.
Here are Palin’s numbers in the rest of the 10 states polled:
- Montana — 44 favorable/50 unfavorable
- Ohio — 37/52
- North Carolina — 36/57
- Florida — 36/57
- Virginia — 35/58
- Wisconsin — 35/58
- Minnesota — 35/60
- Michigan — 34/60
- Alaska — 33/58
- Massachusetts — 27/68
Palin’s popularity has also dropped among Republicans. A new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey shows that 49 percent are “very” or “somewhat likely” to support a Palin White House run, compared with 67 percent of Republicans who in a December 2008 poll said they would support a Palin presidential bid.
Could all of this be part of the reason the Palins seem to be packing up and moving?

@Dekerivers: Happy New Year Dekerivers! Love the new format. Who said you can’t fight city hall?;^)
Vincent,
I have made the change you requested about comments. I have had it both ways as some like threaded, and some hate it. The problem with threaded is that it can produce the problem you mentioned. Without it there is the problem of direct replying to the person who commented. In other words the person commenting needs to make note of the person they are talking back to or such. The ‘reply’ button on the bottom of the comment is now removed when the thread option is taken away.
I dont’ know what’s wrong with your blog site but subsequent replies get squashed vertically to the point where you can no longer read them. It’ ain’t my computer so it has to be how your site is formatted. If you fixed it, then you would get more replies and it would be more interesting to read your blog. Need a web designer?;^)
“Try listening to Sarah Palin talk ”
See right there is the problem…..
Try listening to Sarah Palin talk about America’s energy policies. She knows what she’s talking about and makes a lot of sense. So-called intellectuals are best left in their ivory towers were they can nuance over the Hors D’Oeuvre party tray while they deconstruct common sense.
But I do like educated folks. As a teenager I was the one who watched PBS for “Firing Line”. William F. Buckley was remarkable with his use of words and debating style. When I write that intelligence is important..well that is what I mean. At cocktail parties or such I like to be with thinkers and readers and folks who use their mind. I am one of those who think the smartest person is the best person to lead.
As such Sarah Palin is more suited for reality TV.
It’s no surprise you like all the RINOs but it’s not because of their intellect. You like them because they pose no threat to your political ideology. I don’t know what test you administered to your favorite sell-out Republicans that determined their intelligence. Congressman Paul Ryan (R) is a true intellect; do you admire him? Attacking someone’s intelligence or so-called “GRAVITAS” is a stale liberal tactic. Let’s put your boys up against Sarah Palin in a survival contest in Alaska and see who wins.
You write….”Anyone who dislikes Sarah Palin is either a very poor judge of character and ability or more likely, a jaded, ideology-driven misogynist. I thinks it’s a combination of the two.”
First I am not any of the above.
While you seem not to like or admire Chuck Hagel, Lindsay Graham, Arlen Specter, Michael Bloomberg, Mike Castle or Dick Luger I find all of them among the ones I respect. I have stated as such in this blog from time to time.
I guess what matters to me is intellect.
Either one has it. Or one does not.
Sarah Palin does not.
If you think she does than perhaps that says more about you than those you rap in your comment.
You can poll ’til the cows come home but rest assured it means nothing at this point and time.
Sarah Palin is the real deal – she’s genuine, what you see is what you get. If she decides to run for president, all the silly opinion polls and lame stream media attacks won’t mean a thing.
Sarah proves herself every time she makes a public appearance and draws crowds that Obama can scarcely draw without the help of democrat union goons and city machine party bosses.
Anyone who dislikes Sarah Palin is either a very poor judge of character and ability or more likely, a jaded, ideology-driven misogynist. I thinks it’s a combination of the two.
Those being polled -assuming the polls are scrupulously scientific- are group thinkers and conformists by nature – I reference H.L. Mencken and P.T. Barnum on that point. As for the Republican establishment, it’s no surprise why they feel threatened by Sarah; they are nothing but feckless career politicians who stand for nothing.
I’ll take Sarah Palin any day over the likes of Chuck Hagel, Lindsay Graham, Arlen Specter, Michael Bloomberg, Mike Castle or Dick Luger.
