Combat Madison’s Drinking Water Problems, Including Chromium

January 12, 2011

I am not amused with the ongoing water problems that the City of Madison continues to experience.  For whatever reason I just do not feel comfortable with the facts the city provides about drinking water safety.  I am not confident about the high level of certainity officials have about the water being safe to drink in all parts of the city.

From the day we moved into our house on the Madison isthmus we never drank city well water.  Neighbors had expressed reasons for their not drinking the water, and I had no reason to distrust them.  One neighbor actually had a doctor’s order to stop drinking city water.

Three years ago when we moved here and started to water our many houseplants we found they started to brown and die.  The fact that they were all drooping and having problems at the same time was very strange.   There was either to much chlorine or something else that the plants did not care for in the city water.  After buying bottled water for the plants we have had no problems since.

Clearly there was something in the water that was not suited for plants.

One then had to wonder how safe it was for humans.

After buying water in bottle form for far too long, and needing to lug it from the car to the house every week,  we made a decision at the recent home show held this past weekend at the Monona Terrace to make a change.

Call it helping the economy along, making sure our health remains strong, or allowing for less trips to the grovery store for water.
