Maureen Dowd Skewers Newt Gingrich
The whole column is a must-read.
His latest manifesto, which should have been addressed “Dear Iowa Fundamentalist Caucus-goers,” states: “As litigants demand that courts and judges intervene to create new ‘rights’ out of whole cloth, such litigants and their supporters seek to limit the freedom of others to express their deeply held religious commitments to, for example, the value of every human life and to marriage as between one man and one woman.”
As opposed to one man and three women? Nobody is forcing Christians to marry anyone they don’t want to marry; they’re preventing gays from marrying people they want to marry.
Gingrich doesn’t seem concerned about the religious freedom of Muslims. He compared the Muslims trying to put up a mosque near ground zero to Nazis putting up a sign next to the Holocaust Museum.
President Newt just wants the right to limit other peoples’ rights in the name of religion.

A conservative nation?
Really?
Clearly not in a classical sense of the word.
This nation loves and will not tolerate tampering with Social Security, Medicare, and now love their drug care plan(s) too.
Americans are far more interested in job creation plans than debt reduction plans.
A majority of Americans want to keep abortion safe and legal.
Gay marrige has gained majority acceptance in many polls and major newspapers print gay marriage announcements along with those of st8 folks.
Americans have demonstrated they are not averse to foreign entanglements as Iraq and Afghanistan proved.
I could go on and and on…..but there is one thing that can not be stated with a straight face and that this nation is conservative.
It may be center-right–and I do not even think that is really accurate–but that is a far different thing than a conservative nation.
The GOP nominee will be Mitt Romney, as I have long predicted.” well then I’m not a fan of Mitt, however I have not really looked at him very hard. But it’s pretty sure that Mr. Obama is gone based on my belief that America is mostly a Conservitive nation. But that is just a guess.
skip.
We agree that it will not be Gingrich. While Huntsman is smart and I have praised him on CP he will not be the nominee. The GOP nominee will be Mitt Romney, as I have long predicted.
Gingrich I feel will not be the nominee, so lets stop wasting time with him.
I feel it’s going to be Jon Huntsman.
Way too early for poles and hand wringing.
