Newt Gingrich To Hold Strange Press Conference After Nevada Caucus

February 4, 2012

Speculation is running wild about the purpose of this odd timing for a press conference from the former Speaker of the House.  Given the over-sized ego of Newt Gingrich I can not fathom his admitting defeat and dropping out of the presidential race.

So then what will he have a press conference for at such a late hour?

Instead of the traditional election night party, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will hold a press conference after the Nevada Caucus on Saturday, raising new speculation about his future in the race.

An e-mail sent to reporters on Saturday morning set the Las Vegas press conference for 11 p.m. to midnight Eastern time. It will be held at the Venetian, a hotel run by Sheldon Adelson, who has donated millions of dollars to the pro-Gingrich super PAC Winning Our Future.

Might the press conference be to announce a “love that dare not speak its name” between Gingrich and his sugar-daddy, Adelson?

Interestingly enough, Mitt Romney surprised nobody by winning Nevada. A state with 12% unemployed and a city with nearly 18% unemployed.

Then candidate John McCain came in third in his bid for the nomination in the Nevada caucus, but eventually became the front runner against Mr. Obama.

About 2,000,000 caucus votes have been cast so far in this selection process. That’s about 1% of the 200 million voters nationwide. Why on earth would Newt Gingrich want to drop out? And does this mean, judging from last go-round that the #3 guy now will be the nominee? Maybe not, but one never knows for sure.

And Sheldon Adelson has the cash to donate to Gingrich, and being a big boy, Mr. Adelson may spend his money as he wishes….a man who indicates in an article that money is the easiest thing to make in the world. A curious comment indeed.

No this fight has a long way to go. Craig skip Weis.
