Randy Hopper Still In Legal Limbo From Drunk Driving Charge

June 12, 2012

Randy Hopper does not get legislative per diem anymore—how will he make payments to his lawyers?

A special prosecutor has decided to appeal a judge’s decision to dismiss a breath test refusal charge against Hopper, stemming from his October 2011 arrest. A jury acquitted Hopper of first-offense drunken driving, and driving left of center, in March, and in April, the judge in the case threw out the separate charge of refusing a breath test.

Hopper, a Fond du Lac Republican, was defeated in an August recall election by Democrat Jessica King.

His attorney, Dennis Melowski, called the appeal a continuation of a political vendetta.

Richard Nixon seemed to think everyone had a political vendetta against him, too.

there is nothing political about this. he is trying to use his loss in the lection as a wedge to get a free pass. it doesn’t work for anyone else. BESIDES NO ONE POURED THAT BOOZE DOWN HIS THROAT AND NO ONE HELD A GUN TO HIS HEAD AND MADE HIM DRINK. HE MADE THE DECISION ALL BY HIM SELF TO DRINK. TIME TO MAN UP AND FACE THE FACTS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. AND YOU KNOW THE LAWS. YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN MAN ENOUGH TO LET YOUR MISTRESS DRIVE.
