More Conservatives Think President Obama Is A Muslim–Racism At Play

July 26, 2012

I really have to laugh at these findings.  Be mindful conservatives thought Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.  We know how that turned out.  Also be mindful that it was conservatives who told the lie about WMD’s over and over in hopes  of making it ‘a truth’.  The same has been done for years regarding the president’s religion.

The increase in voters who think the president is Muslim is more pronounced among registered Republicans, especially conservative Republicans. In 2008, among both conservative Republicans and Republicans overall, 16 percent said Mr. Obama was Muslim. Now, 30 percent of Republicans and 34 percent of conservative Republicans think he is Muslim.

Over and over there is just more and more proof of the racist attitude that conservatives harbor when it comes to President Obama.  No one can convincingly say that these conservatives would feel the same about a white man.    This has nothing to do with religion, but everything to do with the fact a black man was elected to the Oval Office, and conservatives can not get over that fact.

The problem for conservatives is that unlike having games expunged from the record like that which happened under Joe Paterno there will be no walking back American history.  Barack Obama will always be the first black man elected president.

It drives these right-wing white men nuts that a black man sits in the White House and governs them.  That is why there is a continuing charge leveled about the president’s religion.  It is just one way to undermine a black president.

What tops this whole crazed story off is that so many of the conservatives cling to their Constitution and claim to care what it means.  That is bunk!

If one reads the Constitution, and takes note of what it stands for, will soon discover that a person’s religion should not matter when it comes to governing this nation.  There would be nothing wrong with an Islamic president of the United States.

I suggest if Obama were white and Muslim there would be less of a problem.

That Obama is Christian but black remains the problem for conservatives.

If you want to be honest with history, you should also note that many prominent liberals–including the Clintons–were convinced of WMD’s in Iraq. You should also note that Iraq violated the terms of the ceasefire by launching ground to air missles or locking-on to our aircraft more than 450 times in violation of the ceasefire.

Your should also note that you have referenced the “Mormon underwear” to pepper your criticisms of Romney, so the reasonable reader might assume your meant it as a smear. I’m sure you would find it hysterical if some conservative blog were to mock that silly headscarf that Muslim men impose on women to keep them in bondage.

But on to the actual substacnce. Islam is antithetical to both the spirit and letter of our consitution even in its “moderate” forms because it reduces women and gays. The same is true to some extent of Christianity, despite the Roman Catholic Church’s attempts to become more liberal. The framers of the constitution knew this to be the case and in their wisdom took action. The great difference is that Islam has not been tempered by the liberal western tradition as Christianity has. For example we could not the lack of Fatwas issued by the Pope or Individual Christian leaders. We could also note that in recent centuries, far fewer cartoons about Jesus have provoked riots and death in comparison.

Personally, I think Obama has no god but himself; he shows devotion only to himself. If thirty odd percent of Conservatives beleive Obama is a Muslim, they must be quite dim and unable to engage in observation and analysis.

I never once stated that there was any reason a Mormon should not be president. I have posted why some may not vote for him from the GOP side based on religion, but never have I stated someone’s religion should bar them from office. Never have I, nor would I.

In regards to the post about Moromon underwear please note how that post begins…….”some have commented to me that I always seem so serious about the issues that I post about on my blog. So I thought I would start the week off with something a bit lighter.”

“If one reads the Constitution, and takes note of what it stands for, will soon discover that a person’s religion should not matter when it comes to governing this nation. There would be nothing wrong with an Islamic president of the United States”.

Would there be something wrong with a Mormon President of the United States? If I remember right one of the most popular, if no the most popular posts on this blog is “Mitt Romney’s Mormon Underwear”. Which has NOTHING to do with Mitt Romney being a Mormon and possible POTUS. You would have no problem with that.
