Michael Phelps: ‘Everybody Pees in the Pool’
August 6, 2012
I just hope this is not the case at hotels where we stay.
In an exclusive interview with the Wall Street Journal, Michael Phelps, the most decorated Olympic athlete of all time, broke this news: people, on occasion, relieve themselves in the pool.
Fellow Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte caused a bit of a stir recently when he reportedly said that he has, on occasion, urinated while in the pool; Phelps, however, suggested that it was no big deal. “I think everybody pees in the pool,” Phelps said. “It’s kind of a normal thing to do for swimmers. When we’re in the water for two hours, we don’t really get out to pee.” He added “Chlorine kills it so it’s not bad.”

Deke,
Just don’t ever drink the pool water, the chlorine might be worse for you than the pee! Smokey3 brings up a good point, it’s the poopers that are the real problem!
That’s why they call it watersports
It is the case in the hotel pools where you stay… get over it! Just watch some of the kids. It happens in all pools to some degree or another. It is even worse in public pools where swimming classes are held for youngsters, that have to be evacuated and shock treated on a regular basis because a kid pooped in the pool. Chlorine take care of the pee, takes more than that to deal woth the poopers.
