Hancock, Wisconsin Denied Visit By Governor Scott Walker

August 8, 2012

Ahh….

Because of a small operation (an  appendectomy) on First Lady Tonette Walker, two of the governor’s events scheduled for today have been cancelled, including the Wisconsin State Cranberry Growers Association Summer Meeting in Hancock.

In this modern era is an appendectomy–on someone else–reason to call off meetings?  The incision is small, and the operation is a rather non-event.

It is not as if Scott Walker needed to work his night job to pay for insurance coverage for the appendectomy.

In the modern world of airplanes and medical care there is no reason for Walker not to have made it to Hancock.

Bet no little appendectomy on Tonette would stop Scott Walker from attending the Republican National Convention!

Could the cancelation have anything to do with what’s going on a few miles away–the Enbridge oil pipeline leak that has a small army of people and earth-moving equipment by the dozens buzzing around trying to hide the problem? Scott Walker has been noticeably silent when it comes to that environmental disaster and the West Shore gasoline leak in Jackson township near Milwaukee. Makes me wonder why the silence. Doesn’t it make you wonder, too? I have my guesses.

I call it as I see it.

Well said Billislake… A cheap shot is a cheap shot, regardless of who makes it, and in this case deekrivers took a really cheap shot.

I cannot stand Walker, stood out in the cold to collect recall signatures, and voted for his recall. That said, having just gone through dealing with my wife’s appendectomy, I cannot fault him on his decision.

Come on . . . there’s enough valid stuff to criticize him about. Let’s go after him on real issues, not something like this.

I wouldn’t fail to take a day off to support hold my spouse’s hand before and after surgery. In the case of Walker, the cranberry growers are better off without him there anyway!

You forgot to mention the taxpayers also pay for Scott Walker’s family-plan health insurance as well. Removal of an appendix is a routine procedure. If it had been a ruptured appendix, it would have been a different matter entirely.

I think this is a most relevant post. How many other people get a day off of work due to their spouse having an appendectomy? At a time when many have no health insurance, and others face curtailed union rights, why should Walker have more options–since WI taxpayers pay his salary!

Sounds like sour grapes from an anti Scott Walker Liberal. How important a medical procedure or anything else is to Scott Walker probably isn’t any of your your business, and certainly not your call. If that is all you to have to snipe at him about today, it must be a slow blog day.
