Elvis Presley died on August 16, 1977.  The 42 year-old music legend was at his Graceland mansion at the time of his death.   The news of Elvis’ death was one of those moments when people can recall where they were, and what they were doing when they heard the sad news.

My Aunt Evie, who lived across the road from us in Hancock called near dinner time to ask if we had heard the news of Elvis’ death.  Mom took the call, and once she hung the receiver up the radio and TV were turned on to hear the news broadcasts.
