“Lincoln” Will Be Oscar Material, Directed By Steven Spielberg
I am very excited about this film.
I very much admire and respect the 16th President of the United States.
The life and times of Abe Lincoln is constant confirmation that bold and decisive leadership, an abundant source of humor, and a natural curiosity are the essential ingredients to being a successful President. Time and again, in books both thin and those that stretch into volumes, it is clear that Abe Lincoln was a man of his times, and as noted at his death, now a man that belongs to the ages. I have stated over and over that Lincoln was the most essential President of the United States.
As such I am looking forward to this film.
Lincoln is a revealing drama that focuses on the 16th President’s tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come.
The film is based in part on the book “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln” by Doris Kearns Goodwin.
