Birds On Madison’s Wintery Isthmus

This picture of a hawk with its prey was taken right outside our window.   The large birds of this type are often seen in the neighborhood.  Though watching a hawk have dinner is not my favorite pastime.
The dark birds are coots, and are numerous year around on Lake Monona
Coots swarm together and circle over and over in the frigid water as if they are trying to keep the water from freezing.
Ducks approach me hoping for food.
I love this photo with the red, yellow, blue, and green of the ducks in the water.
A morning dove seeking shelter from the storm.
