“Brain To Nowhere” Features Madison Talent On You Tube Hit Singing About Sarah Palin

October 4, 2008

David Adler is our neighbor, and that means when his window is up, and music is being played the only place to be is outside working in the flower beds.  Many a summer day I have watered the plants as he either played or created something on the keyboards.  In addition to being a fantastic piano player Adler is a fun person to weigh in with on the topics of the day when our paths cross on the lawn.  So when Adler told me this morning that he was in a YouTube video featuring local singer and song-writer Ken Lonnquist, and they were singing and playing as a reaction to Sarah Palin, I knew this had to be fantastic.

And when you see this video I know you will agree. In addition the kids are great, and the ending just super cute and funny.

The Isthmus wrote a piece on this gem.

Sung from the perspective of a perch across the shores of Russia’s back door, “Brain to Nowhere” bathes in the continuous stream of scandals and tartuffery that has been the Palin candidacy, starting with her support for the Gravina Island Bridge before she was against it. Creationism, book banning, pregnant teens, and senior moments are all invoked too.

Lonnquist ups the ante, though, by singing the ditty in the north-of-Yooper brogue that outdoes even the mellifluous voice of Marge Gunderson. “Well, I’m no Tina Fey, but the accent had to be at least an approximation of something ‘Palin-esque,’” he says. “And it’s awfully fun to say ‘maverick’ and ‘nowhere’ in her tone of voice.”

I notice that a lot of straight guys actually like Sarah. I suspect they appreciate two things about her … and they aren’t brain cells.

No, please don’t send us Madison. But Wisconsin can have the towns of Evanston, most of Chicago and Highland Park free no charge, politicians included in that deal as well. Also as a special gift for responding to our offer, Governor Rod and Cook County President, Todd Stroger as an added bonus. No ups, no extras.

One more reason why the rest of the state ignores the looney bin they call Madison. Someone get the governor on the phone and see if we can just trade the whole city to Illinois, but they have to agree to take all of the politicians within the city limits with them.

    Sure would improve this state.

I am a Democrat, but I don’t think that it was funny. I happen to like Gov. Palin. Nobody is perfect. Why not make a parody of Obama..

This palin music satire was a great both as a song and a video-the facial expressions add a extra levity to the song that almost reminds me “here’s your sign” singer/actor Bill Engvall.

I sure hope those kids got a big slice of cake or other sugary treat of their choice for also doing a wonderful job performing and just well..being kids.

Kudos to all who made this and thanks for sharing!
