Video: Obama Train Trip On Way To Inaugration
January 17, 2009
UPDATED
Perhaps it is because trains are such a part of our American history. It was after all a train that took another man from Illinois to the White House in 1861, and so the images flooding our TV today of Barack Obama retracing the path that Abe Lincoln took to Washington is historically romantic.
From large cities to small towns, and every place in between, there is a feeling of the possible today as we near the time when a new leader is sworn in as president.

The historic connection that links Abe and Obama never existed with Bush or Clinton.
The fact that the White House and Capitol were constructed by slaves, and Lincoln’s tenure as President during the Civil War should make it quite clear why there is a link, and why this inauguration is a HUGE deal.
And if you watching any network, or reading any paper, or talking with anyone on any street in America you will soon feel and hear the tingle that is in the air.
A New Day dawned on Election Day, and it is about to take hold in the White House.
This is historical in all ways, and to wish it to stop says more perhaps about you, than the nation which is embracing it.
I’m just curious how many people invoked images of Abe Lincoln when Bush and Clinton did this? This hype over Obama has got to stop at some point.

thanks for bringing these videos together. It’s nice to have them in one place.
the only thing missing on today’s presidential train was no american flag(s) on the lead locomotive. a flag would have been appropriate for this festive occasion.
