Did Gandhi Curse?

January 26, 2009

The public relations media swing that Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is making across the major networks is cheap, tawdry, and yet I admit so watchable.  As his impeachment trial starts in Springfield today, and his head lawyer called it quits, one might think that the Governor (at least for now) would have better things to do with his time.  While I find Blagojevich disgusting, I also admit that he has a flair and style that most politicians could not pull off.

Perhaps it is his hair and the way he commands a stage that makes him so watchable.  Then again the allure to watching these interviews might be his lack of any credibility in the harsh light of political reality, and yet he pushes forward with his head held high.  We really have not witnessed anything  this brazen played out across the nation for decades. Could the last such huge spectacle been that of President Nixon?  So we watch, and at times want to throw-up.  But we watch.

And at times wish to yell back to the television.

When Blagojevich made a comparison between himself and Martin Luther King, Gandhi, and Nelson Mandela one thing came to mind.  I wonder why it was not a follow up from the NBC interviewer.

Did Gandhi curse?

Maybe Larry King will ask tonight on CNN.
