Saturday Song: Eileen Ivers And Immigrant Soul “Will The Circle Be Unbroken”

Last night Madison was treated to Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul at the Overture Center, and it was one of the best shows in some time that I have attended.  Ivers is a nine time all-Ireland fiddle champion, having  performed with just about everybody from the London Symphony to folk festivals around the world.  Most will recall her as the star of Riverdance.  Once she took the stage there was no time for the feet not to be tapping or the hands to be clapping.  It was as much a workout session, as it was a musical concert.  It was awesome.

As the show ended last night there was a closing  rendition of “Will The Circle Be Unbroken’ that had everyone on their feet for the 8-minute number that was nothing short of perfection.  Online I found a version of that song performed at an informal setting.  It gives a hint of what Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul can do when they play and sing.

And more Eileen Ivers and Immigrant Soul with the ending of “Will The Circle Be Unbroken” at the end of this video cut that also contains more robust fiddling.
