RNC No-Confidence Vote For Michael Steele?

March 11, 2009

The Republicans are in a pickle?

Are they about to dump their first African-American Chairperson of the RNC?  Is this what the GOP now calls ‘change’?  Do they even have another African-American in their party to parade around if they dump Steele?  This is why it is important to be careful when doing impersonation acts.

The GOP plans to hold a no confidence vote on Republican National Committee (RNC) chairman Michael Steele after New York’s 20th congressional district holds its election for the House at the end of the month, according to Political Wire.

Steele is facing increasing criticisms from his own party over his recent statements, less than six weeks into his chairmanship. The first black RNC head, he won the party’s top post as controversies plagued his rivals.

South Carolina Republican Party chair Katon Dawson, who placed second in the party elections, had suffered from concerns that his membership in a whites-only country club could hurt the GOP. And former Tennessee Republican Party chair Chip Saltsman, who had sent sending committee members in December a CD with the song “Barack the Magic Negro,” withdrew from the race on the eve of the vote.
