Mike Verveer, In Spite Of Department Of Justice Investigation, Still One Of Madison’s Best

March 28, 2009

There tends to be a piling on when it comes to one of Madison’s brightest minds, and most caring personalities.  Mike Verveer has had his detractors for the very same reason that he has excelled at what he put his mind to completing.  He is smart, savvy, tenacious, witty, and while those traits have carried him up, they have also made others jealous and motivated petty reactions.  The news that Mike Vereer is being investigated by the State Department of Justice strikes many who know him as a strange happening.  Too coincidental in light of other recent developments.  Are there grounds to any of the investigation now underway?  I like everyone else will wait to see.

But I will be the first blogger out of the gate in Madison to say that we should not jump on the speculation bandwagon about one of the good guys in this city.  Mike Verveer is a solid, upstanding, and respected part of our community.   He has worked hard for the betterment of Madison with countless hours of service, and has committed himself to making this place not only his home, but a better place for all to live.

I think that it is always a natural reaction to a story such as the one in the Wisconsin State Journal to think that if there is smoke there must be fire.  In the case of Mike Vereer I am confident that this is not the case.  While all the details are still to be made known, I think that in the end when all the dust has settled one thing will be clear.

And it is something we already know.

Mike Verveer still is one of Madison’s best.

In the meantime I wish Mike the best, with some rest, serenity, good friends, and keep smiling!  Lots of people are standing shoulder to shoulder with you.

The Wisconsin State Journal is fishwrap that is going all out to smear an alderman.

You could not even come up with a fake name to post by, and then crap out some sensationalized scandal blah blah.

    For you I will repeat…

He is smart, savvy, tenacious, witty, and while those traits have carried him up, they have also made others jealous and motivated petty reactions.

What’s an ADA, City Council member, and ALRC member doing out in bars with 19-year-olds with criminal records? In frequent contact with 19-21 year old young men in trouble with the system.

    He likes rough trade?
Seriously, there’s a conflict of interest here that needs to be investigated, whether he’s a nice guy who did right by you and your buddies once or twice or not.

That’s how it goes in the grown-up world.

How much do you get paid for this gig? This sounds like a standard boilerplate public statement, blah blah blah.

Narcissistic pride reigns, it seems, both here and in the subject of this article.

What’s an ADA, City Council member, and ALRC member doing out in bars with 19-year-olds with criminal records? In frequent contact with 19-21 year old young men in trouble with the system.

Seems to be an apparent major conflict of interest as well as potentially rife with other improprieties.

Please, deke, tell us your professional credentials to defend such behavior. Where do YOU work?
