John Demjanjuk Should Be On Plane To Germany (Warning: Graphic Detail)

Drop The Nasty Nazi To The Pavement And Walk On Him….Give Him The Same Pity As He Gave To The  870,000 who Died At Treblinka.

Do any of my readers recall Pat Buchanan defending John Demjanjuk?  If you do then you too have followed this man and his legal story for a very long time.  Too damn long.  There is no justice while John Demjanjuk sits in America.  He should never have been allowed to return to these shores, and his frail body should have been carted onto a plane today bound for trial and prison in Germany.  There should be no rest in this country for “Ivan The Terrible”.  I was stunned to hear this man still sits here in this land.  For all the so-called ‘outrages’……well….this is the real thing.

A U.S. appeals court halted the deportation of accused Nazi death camp guard John Demjanjuk on Tuesday and he was freed from custody just hours after immigration agents carried him out of his Ohio home to send him to Germany for trial.

“He went through a lot of pain today in the transportation,” John Demjanjuk Jr. said of his 89-year-old father. (The gas chambers for the Jews were not painless either.)

“But he’s nevertheless relieved to be home rather than on a plane to Germany, and we’re very grateful that the federal 6th Circuit Court of Appeals sees the merit in our appeal to have this reviewed and this inhumane action put to a stop.”

Earlier, agents descended on his suburban home, brought in a doctor and, after a check, loaded the retired auto worker into a van in his wheelchair as his weeping wife stood by. A priest was present briefly before he was escorted out.

He had been scheduled to be flown immediately to Munich, where he faces charges in the deaths of 29,000 Jews but instead was taken to a federal building in downtown Cleveland.

A Justice Department spokesman said it “will continue to litigate this matter in court.”

Prosecutors in Germany accuse him of being an accessory in 1943 killings at Sobibor death camp, where he is alleged to have personally led Jews to the gas chambers at the camp in Polish territory then occupied by Nazi Germany.

Lest we forget what happened at Treblinka, and part of the testimony against “Ivan The Terrible”, please continue reading.

The Gas Chamber Body – Disposal Team

This group of several dozen men had the job of removing the bodies from the gas chambers and taking them through the rear doors to the concrete ramps built alongside the chambers. There they laid the bodies for removal by the body transport team.

The body-disposal team’s work was the hardest physically and emotionally. After gassing, the hundreds of people packed standing up in the gas chambers became a solid block of bodies. Separating and removing them was extremely difficult.

At times the workers who entered the chambers immediately after they were opened were themselves poisoned by the residue of gas remaining there.

The Gas Chamber and Tube Cleaners

This group cleaned the blood and excrement off the floor and walls of the gas chambers, as the chambers had to be clean before introducing a new group of victims. This group also cleaned the tube and scattered fresh sand on the ground.

The Body Transport Team (Leichenkommando)

This was the largest prisoner work team in the extermination area, comprising some hundred men. Its task was to carry the bodies from the ramps/ platforms of the gas chambers to the mass burial ditches.

After experimenting withvarious methods of conveying the bodies, in Treblinka the Germans fixed upon stretchers as the fastest way. Two men carried the stretcher, which looked like a ladder with leather carrying straps. The bodies were placed on the stretchers face up to facilitate the work of the Dentisten.

Elihau Rosenberg testified at the Ivan the Terrible trial:

I managed to make a friend of one of the Dentisten by name of Lindwasser, who has since died.

Now when I came to Lindwasser , this Dentisten, he too, was scared to death. I said, Avraham , be a little slower in looking for the gold teeth, because that was one second when I could rest. Somehow I rested the stretcher on my knees, because I was crouching as it were. For me this one second made all the difference. It did give me this tiny bit of respite.

Later he became one of the Bademeisters, the shower cleaners, who washed the chambers and cleaned the ramp between gassings. Sitting there on the ramp, he saw Ivan and Nikolai perform their tasks and heard death come to those inside the chambers.

The Dentists (Dentisten)

The prisoner work team known as the Dentistenwas located between the gas chambers and the burial ditches. It numbered about twenty to thirty men whose job was to extract, with pliers, the gold, platinum, and false teeth from the corpses.

The dentists also examined the bodies, especially those of the women, for valuables hidden in the body orifices.

Part of the team worked at cleaning and sorting the extracted teeth and preparing them for shipment.

New York Governor Paterson To Introduce Gay Marriage Bill

How soon before another state steps into the sunshine of equality?  (Will this make the peeved right-wing extremists angry….and who cares.)

Gov. Paterson will unveil legislation to legalize gay marriage on Thursday, a legislative source confirmed.

Paterson will introduce the measure – which revives a bill that died in 2007 – despite uncertain prospects for its adoption in the state Senate.

“This means it’s a priority for him,” said Sen. Thomas Duane, a Manhattan Democrat and one of the Senate’s biggest advocates for gay marriage.

Duane said he’s been invited to take part in the bill’s unveiling with the governor at an event Thursday in Manhattan.

Despite a slim Democratic majority in the Senate, the bill faces stiff opposition in the chamber. Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith, a Queens Democrat, supports the measure but does not intend to have a vote unless there are enough votes to pass it.

“We don’t want to jeopardize the momentum by putting it up before it has enough votes to pass,” Austin Shafran, a Smith spokesman, said Tuesday.

Paterson, a Democrat, told several upstate radio stations last week that he intended to re-introduce the measure and hoped the Senate would vote on it regardless of whether it had the votes to pass.

The state Assembly has already approved legislation legalizing same sex marriage.

Right-Wing Extremism Danger For America Growing

As one of the commenter’s on this blog noted tonight it was a conservative extremist who blew up the Federal Buildingin Oklahoma City during President Clinton’s time in office.  With that as a harsh reminder the news tonight from Homeland Security is startling.  There is an underside to America that is hell-bent on destruction and destroying the underpinnings of the fabric of our nation.  They will spin themselves as the ones trying to save the country from ‘socialism’, and pretend to be the keepers of ‘our heritage’.  In fact, as Homeland Security notes they are “lone wolves and small terrorist cells” intent on death and mayhem.

Right-wing extremist groups may be using the recession and the election of the nation’s first African-American president to recruit members, a Department of Homeland Security report contends.

Though the nine-page report said it has “no specific information that domestic right-wing terrorists are currently planning acts of violence,” it said real-estate foreclosures, unemployment and tight credit “could create a fertile recruiting environment for right-wing extremists and even result in confrontations between such groups and government authorities similar to those in the past.”

The report, prepared in coordination with the FBI and published April 7, was distributed to federal, state and local law enforcement officials under the title “Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.”

It compares the current climate the 1990s, “when right-wing extremism experienced a resurgence fueled largely by an economic recession, criticism about the outsourcing of jobs, and the perceived threat to U.S. power and sovereignty by other foreign powers.”

It cites proposed restrictions on weapons as likely to increase membership in extremist groups and expresses concern the groups might try to recruit veterans.

The report also cites concern about anti-Semitism, saying that some groups are blaming the loss of U.S. jobs and home foreclosures on “a deliberate conspiracy conducted by a cabal of Jewish ‘financial elites’ ” in an attempt to recruit members.

The election of President Obama is cited as a key recruitment tool. “Many right-wing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restrictions on firearm ownership and use,” the report said.

It said that twice in the run-up to the 2008 presidential election, “extremists appeared to be in the early planning stages of some threatening activity targeting the Democratic nominee, but law enforcement interceded.”

The report said that “lone wolves and small terrorist cells” represent the nation’s biggest terrorist threat because their low profile makes it difficult to intervene before they act.

Here is a health tip for those who get too close to the Dark Side, better known as Glenn Beck.  Notice it is only when the cold hand of Beck reaches out……..

Republican Candidate Bob Vander Plaats Wants To Be King Of Iowa

There is a stench to this story, as it shows the depth of power-grabbing that Republicans crave, along with their desired abuse of government for the worst purpose possible.

At the rain-drenched rally, Republican candidate for governor Bob Vander Plaats demanded Culver immediately intervene rather than wait as gay-marriage opponents work to get a constitutional amendment on the ballot. The earliest voters could see the issue would be in 2012, and that seems unlikely given opposition by Democratic leaders in the Legislature.

“I don’t want to wait two years,” said Vander Plaats. “I want this governor to issue an executive order that says there will be a stay on all same-sex marriages until the people of Iowa have the right to vote. If I were governor today, I would issue that executive order immediately.”

Culver spokesman Phil Roeder dismissed Vander Plaats’ statement.

“Governors in Iowa do not have the ability to prevent or overturn a decision of the Supreme Court through an executive order,” said Roeder. “It’s disappointing that some people, especially politicians, would try to mislead the public into thinking that governors do have such power.”

When Can U.S. Senator Al Franken Take Oath Of Office?

Why sore-loser Norm Coleman is spitting in the wind….that is not the legal language…for that read this.

I have never made the claim that Democrats are always the virtuous ones.  But when it comes to following through on the large themes for which our party stands I think we mostly get it right. Not always, but most times we walk our talk.  But when it comes to the Minnesota United States Senate race from November 2008, over five months ago, the Republicans have shown to all that petty politics trumps their larger stated principles of following the law, and conservative bedrock philosophies of making government work in an orderly process.  Unless one of those foundations for the GOP now includes disallowing duly elected officials with which they disagree from taking office, I would argue that the Republicans took such a pummeling last year that it has left them stunned and unable to react rationally.  Norm Coleman has become a national boob while the people in Minnesota are denied full representation on the issues of the day.  Way to go GOP!!   I am sure this will help you find your way out of the political wilderness!

Here is a tip for the wayward Republicans…..the path to the light does not go through the land of  10,000 lakes.

Three judges soundly rejected Norm Coleman’s attempt to reverse Al Franken’s lead in the U.S. Senate election late Monday, sweeping away the Republican’s claims in a blunt ruling Coleman promised to appeal.

After a trial spanning nearly three months, the judicial panel dismissed Coleman’s central argument that the election and its aftermath were fraught with systemic errors that made the results invalid.

“The overwhelming weight of the evidence indicates that the Nov. 4, 2008, election was conducted fairly, impartially and accurately,” the panel said in its unanimous decision.

The panel concluded that Franken, a DFLer, “received the highest number of votes legally cast” in the election. Franken emerged from the trial with a 312-vote lead, the court ruled, and “is therefore entitled to receive the certificate of election.”

Speaking to reporters outside his downtown Minneapolis condominium, Franken, flanked by his wife, Franni, said he had “no control” over what Coleman does next but said he would urge his opponent not to appeal, which would delay his certification. “I am honored and humbled by this close victory,” he said. “And it’s long past time we got to work.”

Sarah Palin Kin Arrested, Interrupts Making Lye Soap And Lard Rendering

If I could have a country hoe-down musical tape playing as you read this it would better convey the feeling I have as I type.

The extended Palin clan make Billy Carter and Roger Clinton look like model citizens.

The latest from the ADN:

WASILLA – A Palmer grand jury has indicted Diana Palin on burglary, theft and trespass charges related to three break-ins at a Wasilla home.

Palin, 35, is the half-sister of Todd Palin, Gov. Sarah Palin’s husband.

Jailed at Mat-Su Pretrial Facility since Wasilla police arrested her April 2, Palin pleaded not guilty during a brief appearance in Palmer Superior Court this morning.

Police say she broke into a home on West Mill Site Circle owned by Theodore Turcott to steal cash. Turcott told investigators he’d lost nearly $2,600 in two prior burglaries, so when he saw an unfamiliar car pull into his driveway, he waited in a bathroom for Palin and confronted her after she headed straight for a cabinet where he kept his money, according to a police affidavit filed by Officer Jentry Crain. Palin’s 4-year-old daughter came into the home as her mother was being detained by Turcott, who was armed, police and prosecutors say.
