GOP U.S. Senator Ensign Admits Adultery With Campaign Aide Who Was Married To Another Ensign Staffer

June 16, 2009

Peyton Place, please move over.  We have a new contender.  This one is a real bunny hatch!

Will United States Senator John Ensign claim it as a youthful indiscretion, or perhaps was it that gay marriages across the country made his own relationship shaky? That is the talking point, isn’t it?  Just  how does a conservative pro-family Senator spin adultery?

In a statement released by his office, the Republican from Nevada says “I take full responsibility for my actions. I know that I have deeply hurt and disappointed my wife, my children, my family, my friends, my staff and the people of Nevada who believed in me not just as a legislator but as a person. I deeply regret and am very sorry for my actions.”

The senator’s office also released a statement from Ensign’s wife Darlene, saying “since we found out last year we have worked through the situation and we have come to a reconciliation. This has been difficult on both families. With the help of our family and close friends our marriage has become stronger. I love my husband.”

The other option for his wife was kicking Ensign’s behind out the door while keeping his nards in a glass bottle on the mantle.

The hypocrisy runs deep in this one.

It’s not shocking that a public figure had illicit sex. But no one required Sen. Ensign to join the Promise Keepers group — he did it voluntarily. And one of the group’s promises is: no adultery. That’s hypocrisy. Or did he join just because he thought it would make him look more politically attractive? Even more hypocrisy.

I just heard that Ensign and his wife were involved in Promise Keepers. I laughed so hard at the radio chatter about this I nearly drove off the road. Now at work and I check in here every morning first thing and ready your ‘nards in a a glass’ comment and am glad you are a part of my daily ritual. There are so many things to laugh at. Thank You!

Another whited sepulchre who was posing for holy pictures and telling Bill Clinton and Larry Craig to resign. Curiously, he covered David “hire me a prostitutee and put me in a diaper”)Vitter’s back (See http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/16/ensign-whacked-clinton-fo_n_216508.html) People like Ensign, Craig, Newt, Henry Hyde, Bob Livingston and Vitter who voted for impeachment and DOMA while checking the oil on their staff and others definitely endanger my 26 year monogamous same-sex relationship and their marriage should be outlawed. (DOMMSSR)

Personally, I don’t care what these straights do in the privacy of their own glass houses, it’s when they foist their fake morals on the rest of us that I can’t abide it.

Well, politicians having affairs is not news. I am not shocked and do not think that an affair is beyond middle America’s understanding and acceptance.
Womanizing is another issue (Bill C.)

One would have to be very fortunate, very disciplined, and very moral to be surrounded by scores of intelligent, beautiful potential partners who may want a more intimate relationship, and then never succumb to that temptation. And I am referring to both men and women politicians.
I am sure that there are those who regularly resist temptation and have been faithful all their lives, yet statistics and the laws of attraction in the universe would still indicate a probability that infidelity is likely to occur with 635 members of Congress and 10% of the US work force employed by the Federal government.

Not even the Republican Party can prevent good men and women from affairs, divorces, and re-marriages regardless of their expressed values.
