“Hopefully Sarah Palin Realizes She’s Been Invited To Hong Kong Almost Certainly As A Practical Joke”

September 2, 2009

Recently I posted my amusement over the idea of an investor group having Sarah Palin as a guest speaker.  I was not the only one musing about the oddity of the event, given Palin’s less than robust intellect.  Today comes the answer.

Hopefully Sarah Palin realizes she’s been invited to Hong Kong almost certainly as a practical joke.

CLSA, the Asia-focused broker who invited Mrs. Palin as keynote speaker for an Asian investment conference, is well known for their cheeky takes on investment research.

In the past, they’ve polled Asian fortune tellers for index targets, hired anime cartoonists to draw Japanese research, and generally love to push the boundaries between entertainment and analysis. They are a real research firm, it’s just that they love to sprinkle in some hilarity every now and then as a smart marketing gimmick.

Sarah Palin is this year’s big laugh for them.

Her invitation as keynote speaker in Hong Kong is so ridiculous that its absurdity can’t be accidental.

I think you missed the poltical advantage of being out of the country when the Vanity Fair article broke. She is adopting ‘big dog’ approaches to negative news.

The secondary advantage is that she can claim that she has spoken with in-country representatives when she runs for President in 2012. It will be a mighty primary with Michelle Bachmann. It is possible that Bachmann will make Palin look good to many people. Sad to say.

    Yes, it was a hoot.

I blogged about that in Nov. 2008.

In an over-the-top accent, one half of a notorious Quebec comedy duo claims to be the president of France as he describes sex with his famous wife, the joy of killing animals and Hustler magazine’s latest Sarah Palin porno spoof.

At the other end of the line? An oblivious Sarah Palin.

That would be great if it was a joke! Did you hear the audio from when a DJ pretending to be Nicolas Sarkozy called Palin? Hilarious! She bought into it 100%!
