“Choose Life” Not On Illinois Car Plates

October 6, 2009

One of the 2,000 cases the United States Supreme will not hear this session.

Even the conservatives on the Court can’t be lured into this crazy crap.

For at least the fifth time, the Supreme Court declined to wade into the heavily litigated question of whether state motor vehicles departments may or must offer specialty license plates that say “Choose Life.” In declining to hear Choose Life Illinois v. White, No. 08-1283, the court let stand a decision that Illinois was not required to offer “Choose Life” plates along with some 60 other styles because it had “excluded the entire subject of abortion from its specialty plate program” and so was not taking sides in the abortion debate.

Make a State Law or Move.

Just as the Federal Government has no enumerated Constitutional power to bail private auto companies out of their self made financial troubles, neither should the Federalies have the power to mandate any kind of automobile license plate. If you want to have a pro-choice car plate then either vote it into your state, move to one that has laws that match your desire or buy a favorite personal plate.
