AP Calls Alaska Senate Race: Lisa Murkowski Wins, Makes History

Joe Miller is defeated.  That is a very important thing to make clear.  Miller’s brand of Tea Party far right-wing, off the deep-end style of politics that was pushed and promoted by Sarah Palin was defeated in ALASKA.  That is no small victory for the forces of sanity in the nation who gave small amounts of cash to Lisa Murkowski.  Palin was smacked in her face by the people who know her best.  There is a message in that political statement for the lower 48.

I predicted the Murkowski outcome on October 30th.

Lisa Murkowski defeats ‘Hindenberg “Miller and McAdams.  Murkowski wins with high name ID, and the support of the deceased and well-liked Ted Stevens, along with her proven track record.  This race will likely not be called for some time as legal challenges are sure to be raised over the write-in campaign of Murkowski.

Tonight AP made it official.

The Associated Press is calling the Alaska Senate race for Sen. Lisa Murkowski, the incumbent Republican who ran a long shot, write-in re-election campaign.

With just about 700 ballots left to tally, Murkowski has emerged with a large lead over her Republican challenger Joe Miller and is poised to make history by becoming the first victorious write-in candidate in more than 50 years. Murkowski now has 92,715 undisputed votes, according to the Anchorage Daily News, while Miller has 90,468. The state has awarded Murkowski many of the votes challenged by the Miller campaign, giving her a total of 100,868 votes.

Ron Johnson Voters Must Love Kool-Aid

Many angry white men in Wisconsin were duped in November 2010.

But it was not like they were not told in advance that they were about to make a huge mistake.

So many of those Wisconsin guys who carry a lunch box to work, struggle to make ends meet with paying the mortgage, feeding the kids, and putting gas in the car voted for Ron Johnson.

Republican Ron  Johnson.

Millionaire Republican Ron Johnson.

Today it was noted that in this Congress nearly half of the 535 members– 261 of them — are millionaires.  For those keeping track that is a bit of an increase from the previous year.  To make the number more easy to reflect on there are only about 1%  of all Americans who can call themselves millionaires.

So while the Wisconsin male voter is wondering if he can afford a new bowling ball this season, millionaire Ron Johnson and his pals are going to make sure that tax breaks for the most wealthy in this nation are kept in place.

Meanwhile Russ Feingold….who is not a millionaira….and nowhere close to being one….can only wonder how so many voters drank the kool-aid.

After Ron Johnson gets done in Washington  kool-aid is just about all the angry white men in Wisconsin will be able to afford!

America Supports START Treaty

Last evening on television it was stated by a conservative that the American public was not interested or supportive of the START treaty.  Since there was no mention of this treaty from the Republicans who ran for office this fall I am not sure how anyone can make a statement about the hopes of the public.

There is however  a poll from CNN that shows the public, when asked, is supportive of the START treaty. With the current refusal of the Republicans in the Senate to support the treaty simply because it is an Obama initiative makes this the worst example yet of what lurks in the hearts of the GOP.

What this shows is the Republicans will play politics with anything, including the best interests of the nation.

It is time to pass the treaty!

Nearly three out of four Americans say lawmakers should ratify a nuclear treaty with Russia that’s stalled in the Senate, according to a new national poll.

A CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Tuesday indicates that 73 percent of the public says the U.S. should vote in favor of a recently signed treaty between President Barack Obama and Russia that would reduce the number of nuclear weapons in each country, with 23 percent saying the accord should not be ratified by the Senate.

Lisa Murkowski Has Insurmountable Lead In Alaska

Joe Miller is about to lose.

Sen. Lisa Murkowski enjoys an apparently insurmountable 10,400-vote lead over Joe Miller after the week-long review of write-in ballots. But the Miller campaign isn’t giving up and says Alaska’s computerized voting system is “suspect.”

The Miller campaign wants the Division of Elections to recount the entire Senate race by hand, spokesman Randy DeSoto said Tuesday night.

Even subtracting all the votes counted for Murkowski but challenged by the Miller campaign, Murkowski would still be ahead by 2,247 votes. That margin appears to make Miller’s lawsuit asking the courts to toss out misspelled votes irrelevant. There aren’t enough misspelled votes identified for Miller to win.

Sarah Palin Article In New York Times Magazine Needed Some Added Material

A 7,800-word article about Sarah Palin will appear Sunday in The New York Times magazine.  I  provide just a small sample with the needed additions to make it more accurate……..I could comment on the whole thing but refrain to the segment below.

Palin went on to say that there weren’t meaningful differences in policy among the field of G.O.P. hopefuls ‘but that in fact there’s more to the presidency than that’ and that her decision would involve evaluating whether she could bring unique qualities to the table. (Like making money for her family in any flashy way possible.)  ‘Yes, the organization would have to change,’ Palin said during an hourlong phone conversation. (ADD meds were taken prior to call.)

–“‘I’d have to bring in more people — more people who are trustworthy (Translation: People who can put up with the crudeness of  Todd Palin)… I know that a hurdle I would have to cross, that some other potential candidates wouldn’t have to cross right out of the chute, is proving my record. (Well, half a record since I bolted out of that Governor’s office to make money.) That’s the most frustrating thing for me – the warped and perverted description of my record and what I’ve accomplished over the last two decades.  (I have soaked money from the state coffers in Alaska.)  It’s been much more perplexing to me than where the lamestream media has wanted to go about my personal life. (You know, set the record straight, like how I really  did not birth the latest baby in the family.) And other candidates haven’t faced these criticisms the way I have  (None of them, even with their shortcomings, come anywhere near the point of  stupidity I offer) . … I’m on television nearly every single day with reporters ( I am an over-exposed media whore.)… Now granted, that’s mainly through my job at Fox News, (FAUX News for the discerning reader.) and I’m very proud to be associated with them, (They pay me enough so I can get things that glitter that keep me amused.  I am much like a racoon.) but I’m not avoiding anything or anybody. I’m on Facebook and Twitter. ( I am so dense that I think these social networks are the same as sitting down and talking policy with a real journalist.) I’m out there. (Cashing in on every deal I can to get greenbacks.)  I want to talk about my record, though.”   ( And I want Sarah Palin to win the White too.)
