Barbara Bush, Daughter Of President George Bush, Now Supports Gay Marriage

February 1, 2011

It was sad that President Bush used gay marriage as a wedge issue during his terms in the White House to court conservatives. That not all in his own household feels the same about gay marriage now is a good thing.

Sadly however, no Bush spoke up when it mattered back at the time damage was being done to Americans all over the nation.

Silence then was wrong.  Stepping up now, while it feels good I suspect for Barbara Bush to do so, is late.  While it is true that modern moral values are beginning to overshadow those of their antiquated elders it would have been nice to have seen Barbara Bush speak out when her dad was President.

She should have known that in politics timing is everything!

I would say president bush was a good father he did as all good parents do raise their kids in the best way possible and allow them to make their own decisions when they are old enough. Because a parent has values different from yours does not make them wrong or bad.

Has Barbara Bush finally “come”” out of the closet?

    Chris,

    Question for you.

So you think George Bush was a good father installing values and yet we know he used gay Americans and gay marriage as a wedge issue for base political purposes.

Do you not see that he is not the ‘values’ guy you paint him to be?

And if you are pro-gay marriage now can I ask what you thought of gay marriage when President Bush was throwing gay Americans under the bus for Karl Rove’s re-election plans?

I really would like to know.

I never thought I would be expressing gratitude to or congratulating President Bush. But having his daughter Barbara lend her name and support fairness, equality, and justice for all Americans including gay Americans, is a tribute to President and Laura Bush having instilled in their daughter tolerance, understanding and courage in speaking out for justice.

A good piece of news here in France is that marriage equality will soon be a reality.
