What If Wisconsin National Guard Were Like Egyptian Army?

February 12, 2011

I think it needlessly alarming that Governor Walker, a man without a college degree, has threatened the use of Wisconsin National Guard members in an attempt to gain the upper hand with removing collective bargaining for state and public employees.

But then as I watched the news this morning from overseas a thought came to me.

Would it not shock the grin off Scott Walker’s face if the  Wisconsin National Guard were like the Egyptian Army and sided with the people as opposed to the tyrant?

As a result Tonette and the boys might end up needing to step in and serve meals to the inmates.

The governor HAS NOT said he has the National Guard standing by to quell unrest. He has said they are part of a contingency plan to cover state prisons, should there be a job action by corrections officers. The governor HAS NOT said that he expects job actions or any other type of labor unrest, but is prepared to use the Guard to cover state workers at prisons.

Except that whether we like it or not, “the people” wanted Walker to do exactly what he did. The pro-union people would be the Mubarak supporters under this scenario.
