FOX News Drops Glenn Beck

April 6, 2011

Oh my….

Lets just face the fact that liberals are having a very good week…and it is only Wednesday.

SAGGING RATINGS, a string of damaging remarks and an exodus of advertisers have combined to end Glenn Beck’s controversial tenure on US cable network Fox News.

The news follows weeks of speculation about Beck’s future, as a campaign to put pressure on advertisers to boycott his daily 5pm slot gathered pace, while Beck himself was embroiled in battles erupting from his often rococo conspiracy theories involving the likes of George Soros and Barack Obama.

David Brock of Media Matters for America, one of Beck’s most vociferous critics, said: “After losing more than 300 advertisers and seeing more than a million viewers abandon his show, the only surprise is that it took Fox News months to reach this decision.” The StopBeck campaign, designed to lobby corporations against advertising on Beck’s show, welcomed the news with a Twitter posting: “VICTORY!”

    Ferrell,

I add this too for you..found this afternoon in my pile of readings….

Nearly 400 advertisers who do business with Fox News refused to advertise on his show. P Beck’s ratings declined the most of any Fox News show in the first quarter: down 37 percent with viewers ages 25 to 54, and 30 percent among all viewers, compared with the first quarter of 2010.

    Ferrell,

I suspect he remains until his contract expires later this year.

“Drops” means that his show at some point will no longer be on the air, and he will not be a host of a show on the network.

I did not cry when Keith was no longer on MSNBC, so I can’t comment on that.

Then I have a series of questions:

    1) The title of this post is “Fox News Drops Glenn Beck”. Does “Drops” imply he was fired from Fox News?

    2) If Glenn was then fired from Fox News why would Roger Ailes contract Mr. Beck to do a series of News Specials for the Fox News Channel after he leaves?

    3) Last I heard Keith Olbermann was fired at MSNBC and I don’t think Comcast is greenlighting anything from Keith Olbermann in the near future to show on MSNBC. I don’t think he can even use the bathrooms there anymore…

    4) If Glenn Beck was indeed dropped or fired by FOX don’t you think he would have been shown the door now?

    Just wondering…

And let me guess Keith Olbermann left MessNBC on the best terms???

Also, Katie Couric is leaving SeeBS because she feels the ratings are so high at CBS Evening News that she thought out of the goodness of her perky little heart it was time to hand the reins over to someone else.

That said it all; my first thought was that maybe there was a God.
