State Senator Luther Olsen To Face Angry Voters In Recall Election

April 18, 2011

This must hurt.

Wisconsin Democrats plan to file recall petitions for a third Republican state senator over his vote to curtail collective bargaining for most public employees.

Recall organizer Ann Schmidt said she’ll turn in more than the 14,700 signatures needed for a recall of state Sen. Luther Olsen of Ripon. Democratic organizers have already filed signatures to recall GOP Sens. Randy Hopper of Fond du Lac and Dan Kapanke of La Crosse. Hopper and Kapanke are challenging those petitions.

Democrats would need to win three seats in order to take control of the Senate.

    Sandra,

I had not heard that story before….Luther has made a lot of folks very upset and I think he might be in real trouble…and I do not say that as a partisan remark…but from a real electoral one.

Gregory, you’ll think this is cute: Before Luther went over to the dark side, I wrote him a nice letter: I told him that I hoped he would consider carefully what he was doing, that his vote was important, and that I had always considered him a nice guy. How did I manage to form that opinion? Well, I used to babysit him when he was just a little feller in Auroraville.

I never got the courtesy of a reply. Bring on those petitions, if you have any extras, folks. I’m waiting here, pen in hand!

And, again, sincere condolence: Your mom and dad reared a wonderful guy!
