Newt Gingrich’s Top Staff “Quit En Masse”, Will Candidate Be Next?

OUCH!

One has to look at the Republican candidates for president and wonder if any of them are capable of just being local constable.  None of these faces thus far have proven in any way they can lead a three-car parade, let alone a nation.

Now we hear the latest about Newt Gingrich, and it is god-awful.  This is supposed to the time when forces are joining together, but instead the wheels have come off the wagon of his campaign.  Yup, we want him leading from the Oval Office!

When it comes to Newt Gingrich I have long been of the opinion that little matters for him regarding national concerns.  Everything comes down to what is best for Newt Gingrich.  He may have interest in certain policy ideas, and clearly has a philosophical bent, but at the end of the day it is always about Newt.

Clearly there are some peeved folks in the Gingrich campaign…make that there were peeved folks in the Gingrich campaign.

Newt Gingrich’s top staff quit en masse Thursday, throwing into question whether his already troubled presidential campaign can continue.

Two sources close to the situation confirmed that campaign manager Rob Johnson, strategists Sam Dawson and Dave Carney, spokesman Rick Tyler, and consultants Katon Dawson in South Carolina and Craig Schoenfeld in Iowa have all quit to protest what one called a “different vision” for the campaign.

What is the center of this news is clouded, but one thing seems clear from many news sources.

One official said the last straw came when Gingrich went forward with taking a long-planned cruise with his wife last week in the Greek isles. After his bumpy start, rumors began to circulate in the political community the former House speaker’s days as a candidate were numbered. But the collective decision by his high command to quit makes it likely that his demise will be hastened.

  1. Best line from Bill Maher: “New rule: Newt Gingrich – just stop. Seriously, your campaign isn’t just off to a rough start. It’s like you hired me to run it and I purposely ran it into the ground. “
