Michele Bachmann Confuses Elvis’ Birthday And Date Of Death, On Anniversary Of King’s Death

August 16, 2011

This is what happens when one is all hat and no horse.  Just the latest inaccurate comment from Michele Bachmann.

How dare Michele Bachamnn, a  homophobic ignorant teabagger, use Elvis Presley for her political purposes!  It is not as if Bachmann were a real fan of Elvis, or understood his music.  Bachmann  does not know anything about Elvis’ life.  Clearly that is the case as her utter stupidity was on full display again today.

When presidential candidate Michele Bachmann takes to the stage, she is often accompanied by a blast of Elvis Presley’s “Promised Land.”

So, it would stand to reason that she knows a bit about the king.

But apparently, she doesn’t know enough not to confuse the anniversary of his birth — January 8 — with the anniversary of his death — August 16.

According to CNN, on Tuesday as she started a rally in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she said: “Before we get started, let’s all say ‘Happy Birthday’ to Elvis Presley today…We played you a little bit of Promise Land when we pulled up. You can’t do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work.”

If Ms Bachmann had botched Johnny Cash’s Birthday or Date of Death, then that would be another entirely different story.

Nobody ever messes with the Man in Black.

So, one would venture to guess that she won’t be invited to Graceland anytime soon.

Either her staff is as stupid as she is or she’s got a saboteur in her ranks.
Someone is not doing even basic research or fact-checking and is publicly embarrassing the boss. Who mixed up Elvis’s birth/death dates in the daily talking points sheet?
