It is nice to see a guy who never gives up, and wants to make a point of continuing to fight. But Hollywood movies are one thing, and Wisconsin State Senator Van Wanggaard is another.
Following an almost 800 vote margin last Tuesday it was clear Democratic candidate John Lehman defeated Van Wanggaard. The Republicans had lost control of the state senate.
But for days Wanggaard has not been able to smell the coffee, see the daylight, or do the polite thing.
When elections are over, and it is clear from the numbers that there is no way to overcome the odds in a recount, then it is time to call the winner and say ‘congratulations’.
Today, following the election canvass, there is even more reason for Wanggaard to act like a man.
Racine County officials said their vote canvass shows that Democrat John Lehman picked up 55 votes in his recall challenge against state Sen. Van Wanggaard.
The canvass Tuesday found that Lehman extended his unofficial lead over the Republican incumbent to 834 votes.
Lehman had 36,351 votes, or 50.6 percent, while Wanggaard received 35,517 votes, or 49.4 percent.
