The list starts in Tyler, Texas in 2005.

Yes, I’m now aware of that. On balance I’m sure it is a better thing to post all public areas–from malls to government offices to movie theaters and schools–as “no gun zones.” It’s to the credit of the people of Aurora that no jackass in the audience chose to break the rule. Some fool with a gun sending bullets flying toward the terrorist would have only compounded the misery.

re: “you think a law will keep the bad guys from getting guns?”

Yes, in fact, making these guns illegal would drastically reduce gun violence in your country. I’m writing to you from Canada, where handguns ARE virtually illegal for most citizens to obtain ( Peace officers, other law-enforcers and citizens living in remote areas lacking local police protection are the main exceptions.). The rate of gun violence in Canada compared to the American figure is dramatic:

According to, the overall homicide rate involving handguns in Canada at last date of new gun law roll-out (1988) was 2.6 (per 100,000 people, per year). In the United States the equivalent rate stood at 8.9 the same year. That’s_3X more gun violence_ in your NRA-and-2nd Amendment-loving country!

From where I stand, you sound INSANE, man! More and more and MORE guns – is THAT your solution?? Have you ever watched ‘The Itchy & Scratchy Show’ cartoon-within-a-cartoon episodes on The Simpsons, on TV? “Fight Fight, Fight. Fight Fight Fight, Fight Fight Fight, Fight!” Is THAT your policy for a safer America?

Did you and your loved ones feel safer during the Cold War years, when out-of-control proliferation of locked-and-loaded nuclear warheads at ready alert and aimed between the USA and Russia kept the entire world in a 24/7 grip of terror ?

My god! Save us from America!

In Scotland, between 2008 and 2011, there were two gun murders per year. In Scotland there are 5.5 privately owned guns per 100 people. I don’t know how many people had firearms in their possession at the theater in Colorado, but I notice nobody shot at the terrorist in self defense. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

What do all of these mass shootings have in common? Not a single person was carrying a gun to defend themselves with. Nobody was able to shoot back. All they were able to do is run for their lives, or sit helplessly and watch their family members gunned down. All it takes is for one maniac to get his hands on a gun, which he will, legally or illegally. Felons are already prohibited from buying guns, they still get them.

200 unarmed law abiding citizens, one maniac with a gun who doesn’t care about laws…. that works well, ask the people from the Colorado theater….lets make it a law that this is the way it has to be. Smart….

Cocaine is illegal, yet millions of pounds of it cross the border every year. Laws don’t stop people from getting cocaine, yet you think a law will keep the bad guys from getting guns?

Yes I know this guy bought his guns legally, but can you prove to me that he couldn’t have got them illegally? The columbine kids weren’t even old enough to buy guns, but they got them, right?

How are you going to keep the bad guys from getting guns? answer- you aren’t…. all you are going to do is tell people they HAVE to go to a theater unarmed and hope some maniac who thinks he is the joker didn’t get his hands on one of 50 AR-15’s smuggled across the Mexican border along with 10 kilos of cocaine.

Laws only effect people who obey laws…some guy who dyes his hair red, booby traps his apartment, and plans on going to a theater to kill people because he thinks he is the joker….probably doesn’t care about your gun law.
