Little Jimmy Dickens Target Of Identity Theft

This is horrible for anyone to experience, but to have Little Jimmy Dickens be the target at age 91 is just unconscionable.

“I couldn’t believe that someone would do a thing like that,” Dickens said from his home Wednesday.

“The only reason that they found out was they had a collections agency find them,” said Detective Steve Malach with the Hendersonville Police Department.

Malach says Dickens could be one of many Opry stars who have secretly had their identities stolen by Johnny Lee Presley, who also goes by the name Alvin Roiland. Detectives say the 59-year-old claims to be in the music industry and has Tennessee driver’s licenses with various names and looks.

“He’s getting their personal identifying information. Just enough that he’s able to open credit cards in their name,” Malach said.

Investigators say Presley, who claims he’s related to Elvis Presley, opened fraudulent credit cards and had them shipped to various P.O. Boxes around Hendersonville, including the UPS Store on East Main Street.

Detectives believe there could be many big name country stars at risk who are all members of the Grand Ole Opry.

Presley was arrested at a Murfreesboro hotel on Friday while being evicted for not paying his bill. He’s currently being held at the Sumner County jail facing I.D. theft and fraudulent use of a credit card charges for stealing the identity of Opry icon, Stonewall Jackson. Presley would face additional charges in Dickens’ case.

The artists never know money is being stolen because it comes from accounts they aren’t even aware exist.

“When a charge is being made it’s not being deducted out of their account.  So bookkeepers and their financial people are not going to know,” Malach went on to say.

Now Dickens does know, but can’t believe he’s a victim of someone claiming to be in the music business who he’s never even met.

“He should know that he can’t continue doing that. Regardless of how smart he thinks he is there are a few people smarter than him. That’s a proven fact,” Dickens said.
