Trivia: Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, And Oliver Wendall Holmes, Jr.

So I am reading on a lazy Friday evening (The Supreme Court by Jeffrey Rosen) and came across this wonderful short tidbit from the Supreme Court in the early 20th century.  When I read the following there was no way not to think of the dynamic duo of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan as they run down the economy, rage against our foreign policy, and belittle women’s rights.

Unlike (Justice John Marshall) Harlan, the practical politician, (Oliver Wendall) Holmes was too enamored of his own philosophy to dirty his hands with facts.  “I hate facts,” Holmes responded, when Justice Louis Brandeis urged him to study them for a change.

If the GOP nominees would digest a few more facts they sure would be more engaging as opponents in the fall election.
