Eric Larson To Thrill Me Again With “Dead Wake: The Last Crossing Of The Lusitania”
One of my favorite authors, Eric Larson, is about to make me smile again. And thanks to Amazon Prime his latest book which was published March 10th and ordered mere minutes go will be delivered to my door this Sunday. Isn’t America, great!
The topic of this book will glue me to a chair like the others I have raved about on Caffeinated Politics. Like here, and here, and here. As I have mentioned before Larson would be a superb guest at a dinner party—and I would want him seated next to me!
It is a story that many of us think we know but don’t, and Erik Larson tells it thrillingly, switching between hunter and hunted while painting a larger portrait of America at the height of the Progressive Era. Full of glamour and suspense, Dead Wake brings to life a cast of evocative characters, from famed Boston bookseller Charles Lauriat to pioneering female architect Theodate Pope to President Woodrow Wilson, a man lost to grief, dreading the widening war but also captivated by the prospect of new love.
